the way i see 4chan is that its pretty much the ultimatum of internet, the pure essence of internet, 100% internet; anonymity, sharing information and culture, people being fuckwits, entertainment, porn.

This was new in 2001... yeah you could actually shock people when you spray painted it in online shooters like CS on a wall. Besides, the official goatse pic was not the most "shocking" one... in the full collection he put stuff huge like three xboxes up his poor sore butt.

Even the scat shock sites are old... scat was there all the time it's just no one really gave a shit before or wrapped it up in some innocent looking domain name.
