I give this game a zero because you can't even see your own HP, wtf. I think that even if this game had Master Chef it would get an 8. Only because his shooting is awesome. the controls feel wierd and when i kept pushing up on the wiimote my man kept moving left? Worst game ever.
It hurts to read... shudder.

gimme my supar bros
My desire for SSBB has been intensified after my GC freeloader stopped working on my PAL Wii that enabled me to play my NTSC copy of SSBM (used to live in America for a time). I'm considering getting the new Wii freeloader so I can play SSBM and import SSBB, but I'm concerned that another firmware update will just make it a waste of money.

I just wanted to mention that this game it awesome... Not only are there more stages then you could shake a stick at but you also get a stage builder with quite a few options and unlockable pieces.
Then you get all the new characters and beefed up graphics... then for the Pokemon fanatic that lives in our hind-brain you have trophys and stickers to collect and achievements to unlock...
Then they put together an adventure mode with ample pre-rendered cut cut scenes. I'm less the 50% done and I've already clocked over 5 hours of gameplay... and this it in additon to "classic" mode being slightly different for each character...
There is an awful lot of play value in this game... and that's without inviting your friends over for a quick couple... hundred... games.

On the subject of those custom stages... Me and two others accidentally played one of the "example" stages. Basically a box without a top, and on the bottom left-side the floor falls out from under you. That's literally the extent of it. Even this simple boring level was fun to play on! Rather than trying to KO directly we kept trying to force one player to step on the falling part. And every 5 seconds I'm flying across the stage in one direction then the next pulling a motorcycle out of my ass and running everyone over. This game is so crazy.
I haven't even touched the stage builder and I'm only a couple hours into the "campaign" thing. I've only played as maybe 5 characters total so far.
It's fun even just setting up a match. My opponent takes Bowser (heavy hitter), so I take Samus (heavy ranged), which makes him switch to Fox (light ranged), which makes me switch to Lucas (sneaky bastard ranged), so he switches to Mario (fast close combat), so I switch to Wario. He realizes he's ****ed since nothing beats Wario and then we play
"Brawl sold over 874,000 units on launch day and over 1.4 million units in its first week, making it the fastest selling title in Nintendo of America's history." I guess I'm not the only guy who thought, I'll buy a Wii for Brawl and if anything else comes out for it, that's just a bonus.

No Caydr, you are most certainly not the only one to think that
I've played with the stage builder a few times, only made a few weird stages though (to unlock one of the sets). The irritating kind of weird (try all springs, plus the 4 minimum platforms, I did...).
I tried online play with anyone last night. It was laggy as 500 fighters with >500 sight range

. Well, despite the slowmo->slideshow->slowmow for the first 30 seconds, I managed to beat the poor guy paired against me after things got a little better.

Power Stone 2 also had a character who pulled a motorcycle with spiked wheels out of his ass and ran everyone over.

Yeah I believe it was the cowboy character.
Power Stone 2 was an under-appreciated great game. It has most of the same elements that Smash Bros. has - oodles of items/weapons, elaborate levels that affect gameplay, colorful crazy characters. Biggest difference is it used standard HP bars instead of smashing someone off the level (though you could do that too, they would lose HP and respawn).

Yeah power stone really rocked. Too bad they stoped on 2... Also, I think that the fighting style of power stone 1 was really cool. They should have tried to keep both on :)

Anyone get the feeling Nintendo imagined Wario as being the American version of Mario? Stereotypically, of course.
So I'm now on the big maze level. I feel like I'm on one of those classic Nintendo endgame item-hunts. I think I've filled in most of the area though, can't be too much more to go. I'm at like 70% or something overall.
Just had to say, R.O.B.s introductory video is hilarious... so completely unexpected and awesome. Although I think I still like Wario's overall outrageous style better, ROB is probably a close second in terms of fighting. He seems to have a lot of good moves, is quick, and has the floating ability so you can hardly ever get KO'd from a misstep or medium hit.

ROB seems like he's pretty decent... I think I've narrowed down the maze to 6 more doors in the upper right corner... It's cheesy and long and I just want to make it go away... the rest of the adventure was like 10 minutes a level and it's a little weird to suddenly be stuck in a level for over an hour. If I don't get sonic or taboo or master hand as a playable at the end of this farce I'm going to be a little cranky.

Yeah you're supposed to get sonic at the end, I think. I'm hoping they'll work him into the "story" somehow.
Haha still can't get over the ROB introduction...

tried a special brawl last nite cause me and my bro were bored. Settings were:
stock-3 man
Tiny Charaters
Low Grav
Bunny Hoods
On Final Destination or whatever its called...
God we nearly pissed ourselves laughing. If your looking for a crazy shits and giggles setup that's a top contender.
hmm... huge chars + Metal bodies + High Grav would be interesting as well... i'll have to test that.

So brawl has a system like wormpot? This game sounds better ever time I hear it :)
wormpot its a feature from some worms games that lets you add certain variables to the game, such as increasing the power of certain weapons types or imobilizing all worms.

Special Brawl... yeah...
YOu can play time (fragfest), stock (lives) or coin (damage produces coins which can be picked up for points)
You can play standard brawl (more damage a person takes the further they fly when you hit them, knock them out of the ring to win) or HP (beat up opponent till their life reaches zero)
you can play with mini/mega characters, fast mode or slow mode... you can change the items that appear, or their probability (Dragoon Armor is awsome but some people think it's cheap, boxes are a cheap finish)
different gravity, different damage ratio... yeah a bunch of options

It's lacking the wormsish ability to set the frequency of each individual item drop unfortunately. It's just on/off and a global sometimes/frequently/ground-covered-in-pickups.

Haha I hadn't thought of only turning on a couple items... that could be interesting if you pick the right ones.
