CRTs must be 70 hertz or above (the number of flickers per second, above 70 is enough that even sensitive eyes won't notice)
LCD monitors must be set to their native resolution, or else they blur pixles, which causes eye strain.

85 Hz is the minimum tbh. I get annoyed from 85 Hz too, needed 100 Hz at least. Less than 85 Hz meant headaches for me.

Go home kid, we don't need your kind here. This forum is for badasses like Swiftspear and me, real men who can handle the low 'hertz.

O.O
I couldn't find an 85 hertz monitor the last time I was CRT shopping. Most of the comercial level CRTs were between 60 and 40 herts, both which caused eye strain in most people with long term use.

I tested my monitor on PS3, and it came out 720x480 at 31.5kHz at 480p. 480p was the resolution that I viewed in and caused great deal of eye strain. So I tried 720p which gave me 1280x720 at 45KHz. I haven't tested it yet, but there is 1080i and 1080p which gives me 1920x1080. The menu said select all resolution that my TV supports. There seems to be no way for me to set resolution manually on PS3. Only good choice seems to be 720p at 1280x720. Hope my eyes don't get hurt.

Ouch, that's high. 60Hz gives me ocular migraines, but I'm usually fine at 70.

I might be way off base here, but I thought all TVs had a refresh rate of 60, with 29.97 frames per second. In NTSC regions anyway. If TVs were only 30hz you'd be able to see the blinking clearly.

I can see the blinking at 50 and 60, slightly. I don't mean when you're not looking straight at it. Well I could hear my old monitor's LED "blink" too, I think it was some condensator which was recharged over and over again. Guess I'm a bit sensitive...

I can hear the refresh hum on an old CRT I have, it's not that unusual. I'm surprised it bothered you, though- I could always tune it out after 10 minutes or so.
