You know I actually tried to do this last night. I forgot that the orientation of the nanolathe pieces never are the same, and there are about 50 other problems with emitting a laser as well.
I suppose you could use a slow firing invisible laser with a cegtag.
Meh tbh it really does fail tho.

It uses particle rotation and is part of LUPS, but iirc Tired can't see those (they need a working GLSL gfx -> lasers are a backup solution for old gfx)
