I doubt. We began developing of this project because there are too many things in Spring engine, that we don`t like. So TA3D differs very from Spring and cross-multiplayer support is almost impossible.

What in particular do you not like?

I like some of the water effects in ta3d. But I like spring better, no offense. I could see how for some it is the other way around.

They didn't like that spring didn't completely accurately recreate TA. SJ was building a game engine that could run TA content, SJ wasn't building a game engine that was simply a graphical upgrade of the TA engine, and therefore spring did certain things different than TA did.
Many OTA fans didn't like that, thus TA3D was born to acctually recreate TA accurately.
This is the guts of the problem, TA is archaic and does so many things so incredibly terribly. There is no real valor in a project to recreate TA in my opinion because TA is an incredibly bad engine for the most part. Most of the problems spring has had throughout the years have all been related to the fact that TA did something stupid that spring then copied and we now had a poor system for developing new content in the engine, thus work had to be done to fix the problem in the first place. Hence what I mean when I say "a project dedicated to making all the mistakes we've been working to solve for years"
Now I really don't expect anyone to have any sudden epiphanies and start changing TA3D into the new CE engine project... I understand the TA3D coders work on that project because it's what they are passionate about, and they don't agree with me as to what gives a game engine fundimental quality. That being said, you'll have to allow me my opinion that the best systems for game development were not developed 10 years ago with the TA engine, and thus fundimentally, an engine based on recreating those developmental structure, even with graphical updates, is simply something I don't find interesting in the slightest.

No derail intended. People asked me why I said that, and it's because it's a matter of opinion. In my opinion there are better possible projects than TA3D... that being said, who am I to tell people how to use their free time? Back to normal worship then

SwiftSpear - well, not exactly. TA3D don`t copy TA engine as close as possible. Our work is to create up-to date engine, that have the same playability, that OTA`s has. TA3D have almost nothing from OTA engine, except of supporting all of it`s resources, but we still trying to preserve TA gameplay as close as we could.
There`s still too early to say something good or bad about the way TA3D was coded, since even now we have major re-writing of different parts of engine. Let`s return to this conversations when TA3D reach at least v0.8.

What impresses me most is that you managed to translate the whole look of the maps into 3D.
Keep up the good work, I like both Spring and TA3D, just in different ways.
