Naa, I noticed it too. I think SupCom accelerates into/out of the zoom, so it seems smoother to the user. Spring just accelerates/decelerates instantly making the zoom far more abrupt.

Personally, I prefer the way it feels in SupCom. Spring's seems more raw, more of an assault on reality.

Increase your map resolution slows the zoom speed.

at 640 - there are only two zoom settings (Full screen and close up)
