Because people are dead then, stupid.

Once with each braincell, eh?
I'm all for 20 day mutes for minor offenses. That's gonna teach them a lesson (or not). :P

Why are people acting like you can only have even mildly free speech in a democracy? The two aren't even that related...

Cause in democracy we can waste hours discuting whenever a certain word is a bad word or not, while in imperialism your boss says its a bad word so its a bad word :)

But why can't we have a democracy where a dictator rules over everyone with an iron fist, and every 4 years the people vote for the next dictator?

Because all that would happen is that the dictator would change the rules to stay in power. It is not possible at all. After all, who watches the watchers (Or dictators in this case)? Someone with more power? Then you have another dictator.

if the dictator tries to get around the rules the other dictators overthrow them. No dictator would dare launch a coup because they too would be overthrown by the other potential dictators.
The only stable setup would be either a coalition government of dictators or a democratic vote as a means of deciding who rules the next years during the deadlock.

why are people bawing over getting muted. If they are muted wait out the time like I have to. I get muted and I do my time like the rest of you. What is the bloody problem?
Posted: 30 Nov 2007, 23:44
by TradeMark
Well, the time you got muted was probably less than 20 days.
20 days is just too much, 3-8 days would be ok.

Well I would get muted for say things that count as profanity. Yet, crappage would be prattling on about cp and not the star trek kind. Even so I was muted for like a day. What ever did I do? I went in a private room and chatted just fine. If you are muted from main for a month, nothing of value is lost. In fact sometimes it would be better if you don't go in main at all. Main is fail and aids.

Some guy said fuck in a non-offensive context and got the 20 day mute. That's overkill. Another guy kept harrassing lots of people and abusing them, got a 20 day mute and that was fine. The punishment has to be proportional to the offense.
