I just wish I could texture that well. I have a feeling I'm just scraching the surface of Gimp.

Just starting the texture on it, took me forever to unwrap then break down the track and wheel parts, for some reason It would keep crashing in 3dsmax when I would try to export it to .s3o, all fixed now, I can have something to show in about a day.
I figured you guys would know by now that I work at "grandma" speed ^^

agree, i think the cockpit should be longer.. mabye a touch higher, but then it obstructs the rockets..
Bzzt - continuity alert! Why would a Core unit need a cockpit? 0o
Nice model. =)

Btw, I noticed that the original has 3 front flares, 1 exhaust, and 1 dummy way above the launcher... anyone know what the other 2 flares and the dummy objects are for?

Because the original had a cockpit.

Its not a cockpit so much as a housing for the main CPU unit and the various sensor modes such as IR, and Laser.. allows for a targeting aperature..

Just because Core "are machines", doesn't mean that Core would necessarily be that whole machine.
Core could have pilots too, just in an armored chases like a Terminator :D
Thats just speculation though, as there is no solid evidence one way or the other.

Mandatory for all citizens to undergo patterning, 6000 years.
No humans.
No, the problem with the cockpit is that you dont need that tiny bevel there, you can do it via texture. Nobody i going to notice such a tiny bevel.
500 isnt bad for the Slasher though. You get them spammed, but not like the gator.

I think he was suggesting that a Core vehicle could be piloted by some sort of smaller robot, which in turn contained a Core citizen-pattern.
I agree, but I don't think it's pilot compartment would look like a cockpit anyways. It'd be, like, stored in the belly of the unit and jacked in directly to the tank using cables, including it's eyes - so no window, just a direct hookup to the tank's cameras.

Yeah, I've always thought a Core "person" would be a little computer box, maybe with some basic manipulator limbs, that gets "plugged in" to the unit it's piloting. Like the Jameson model cyborgs from Ghost in the Shell.

Still a lot left to do, but here is a small update.
Try to ignore the wheels, they'll be nice and round once I get the Alpha channel setup.
I'm going to be working on this hard till its done tho, should be ready by this weekend.

My only criticism, and perhaps something that applies to a few of your units, is that some of the random panel noise is in quite obvious spots, and is quite dark and contrasting, making it not subtle and receding to the background, as panel noise should be. So it draws your attention, and there isn't really enough detail there to really explain much, or hold your attention. Random panel noise is fine for areas that need to be subtle or just need some breaking up for flat tone, but they shouldn't draw attention. If they are important, then the panelling needs to be a little more intentional, and look like metal panelling really would, and less 'random'.
The main area here is the angled green face just above the core symbol.
And of course, that being said, it's a minor criticism, and it still looks dead sexy, and much better then I could do.

eh that looks a bit busy/ off compared to the other stuff..

I have to agree with the random paneling. I started using this myself (using a cheap ass area fill) and it really doesn't look good. Two or three bolted metal plates may look better.

Yeah, I really don't know what to do with it..
I thought using thicker lines would help it stand out better at a distance, but now it just looks crappy now that you mention it..
I can't just leave it flat though, it just looks like washed mud without something there to break it up.
