Guys we can't use the OTA models, legal reasons.
It's clearly stated that you have to own TA to play Spring for legal reasons. We're not using the OTA models, we're using the
whole damn game. It doesn't matter.
Anyway, I am just NOT willing to sacrifice these models for performance reasons, because just imagine where computers will be in two years time. You will have to redo all the work!
Who even mentioned sacrifice? We just can't utilize them right now, and thus there are too few of them to even matter.

ok i tested them with my 800mhz pc
i dont think that there is a big speed├â┬ (=fps) difference between them and the old ones.. i works very fine for me

Guys, Spring is hardware accelerated. That means that the number of polys on the models affects your graphics card a bunch, and your main CPU and RAM almost none (unless you have an integrated graphics controller, in which case your graphics card steals RAM from the system).
Graphics cards are currently increasing in performance 10 times every 2 years. Conversely, that means that in 2 years, a $500 graphics card will cost $50, or even less used on Ebay. We don't need to worry about the number of polys much. This is not to say we can use 10K poly peewees, but we can probably get away with 4x to 10x the number of polys in OTA, which was software rendered, and thus totally dependant on CPU.

Well i managed to get the downlode and i have three words
Knocked My socks... off. Four words then. The modles where so good my computer slowed down! So i think that we sould get the whole the fartehr in you zoom in then you get the more detailed modles, like in uhhhh a whole lot of RTS's, but Black and White, GC and GC2 spring to mind.
Also in a total nonsequiter i just got the Dungion Seigh two beta! WOOOOO CRIS TYLOR!!! See everysingl thing that was bad, boring or wrong about DS1 has been either
A) Removed
B) Changed
Also they fixed this bug where the game play's itself! Also DS2 is the most RTS RPG i have have played, looks sweet, has a plot (unlike the last one) and the game atou scales the difficulty depending on party size! So once DS2 come's out i command you to get it!

I realy liked the Freedom Fighter thing, but it looked like it would have two macheain guns on the front, so maby you can add cannons to the fighter planes, cause that would make dog fights infinitly cooler with missles AND cannons!

Dawn of the dead was my favoret, but Day of the Dead had my favoret zombie, who my avitar is. His name is Bub and he is the only charicter IN THE ENTIRE MOVIE that you actualy empithise with! Even though he eat's humain flesh! Whitch say's a lot about the other charicter's in the movie

Until we can state that you don't need to own TA to play Spring, Spring will not become any more popular than it is now.

Yeah, surely if we have our own models, then they can be available for free download. You can have a message, if we need it, saying that it is illegal to play the TA mods without owning TA, and everyone can ignore it. But if we are actually giving away TA content, then we are fucked I think...

Very nice models (but zeus).
I had a very long and huge game with no prob.
It was a bit slow, for my machine (ati 9200, xp1700+, 256 ram), but no other issue.. (no reflection, no shadows, Texture 1x).

Could we cut the poly counts down just a little? Over a thousand is a bit too much for a TA scale game.

those models are awesome... i hate beating those good looking models... cause i want some CORE MAN CORE... I REALLY WANNA SEE COOLER LOOKING A.K.
and SJ please do some neat graphic upgrades...
oh oh some really amazing things just came in my mind. this one is nearly impossible in rts... u know how ugly it looks like when kbot stands in hill or something and the units legs are inside da freaking mountain... maybe some weird way there could be done some part to unit that will allways be in same "direction" as the terrain below... that would make unit leegs look better... and could do some really neat looking hover vehicles and tanks !!!
i hope u know whut i meant by that
if not i will draw something and then explain again

well, they already have the check to find if the hover craft are going up hill, even in the original. so it should be possible... I'm not the one who knows how to do it, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.
