Very pretty map, cronos.
Had some fun with SWS on it.
MORE SHOTS
:)
My one criticism is that I think you've prebaked some of the shadows on the mountains a little too dark. While this makes the mountains look super-sexy, it looks a little odd because the units don't cast as dark a shadow, which is actually a little bit disorienting.
Also, while the hills are sexy, the 'craters' don't seem to really fit in with the overall theme of the map. They are neither as detailed nor in the same style as the mountains, which I think may counter the design a little bit.

Very interesting map. just played it 4v4 north vs south.
Love it... can't really complain about much with the map, tendency for some to porc a bit but then you get that on most maps with interesting terrain, even when you don't.
Without a doubt a map I'm going to play a bit over the future, well done mate, absolutely beautiful!

i was in metal skins game and it was amazing apart from there being no lag at all with the map full of units there were so many untis used u dont usually see in normal games cos ud get owned doing it :]
There was some porcing but that happens in all maps and still wen there was a bit of porcing there was always nice action to look at on the other side of the map there wasnt one moment in the game were there wasnt any action to look at altho just looking at the map was amazing :]
com popping in and out of the metal craters to reclaim and repair whilst fighters bombed him was so cool. Highlight of the game was flash trying to go past ak's and ak's not being able to catch up so they took a detour thru the mountains with the support of some paralyzer planes the 20 flash got ownd bt 20 ak's and 8 planes xd.
Overall it was the most fun game ive ever watched on spring mainly due to the terrain allowing various strategies to go thru in the end some nukes won the game (game lasted around 40 mins not to long) and it was nice to see deformed terrain with water whic hdidnt lag the game at the end of the game with full units and full terrain the highest usage was 38 percent with 14 people in game
love the map and its possibilties im sure some players will have a go at it balance wise but dam its fun and we need fun good looking maps for spring and this is deffo one of the best i think this map deserves to be in a video showcasing springs possibilties on nice terrain :D
This Map kicks ass My new faiv but sadly it wont kill DSD

I see that Carrera has the same problem the bryce does concerning the fact that it doesn't account for texture stretching so the sides of the hills get all crappy looking.
Unfortunate, but not a damning offense.

Gundam units would run all around this map.
Winrar!!!
This map looks hawt as. Zsinj took some shots of Star Wars: Spring on it and ohhh man. Check em out! Link is in SWS eyecandy thread.

Carrara is made by the same guys as Bryce, so thats why the texture is similar looking. Im not sure how diffrent it is from Bryce though, from the description it seems like exactly the same program.
...and about 5x the price...

Well it acutely doesn├óÔé¼Ôäót have problems mapping the sides of the hills the textures are procedural and work fine with in Carrera the problem with the starchy textured hills is coming from that fact that the texture in spring is flat projected from the top and the texel density on the side of hills is therefore lower because the projected textures pixels gets starched over several pixels as a result of the UV mapping of the mesh that gets created from the height map.

Iron_Craters_V1_Sources.rar
This are the sources files for Iron_Craters_V1 New map by cronos including the Carrera files and bat file for the mapconv.exe as well as all the metal feature maps as bmp the texture map as jpg (the bmp is 196 MB!! So to big for a download) the height map is a 16 bit 1 canal in Intel byte order 16b format.
If someone seriously things about reediting the map contact me and I can also upload the 196 MB texture to a FTP.
Greetings
