then best of luck to you sir, in the meantime I have to continue to think of a myriad of css fixes to accomodate your clearly reasoned choice.

Not my fault MS can't be arsed to support 32 bit PNGs properly when everyone else can.

It would be reasonable if the image needed 32 bit colors, but now when you have just few colors on the image, its just stupid to use something like PNG for it when you know GIF does the same and works with everyone. See.

I need the alpha channel because I don't like jaggies on my avatar. I've often been using 8 bit PNGs before by the way.
PS: IE7 supports them properly.

Actually you can do the same with GIF and 100% transparency.

Not quite, you'll see the aliasing which is ugly.

Well I just did. Now do it and don't argue with me about using an alpha channel, I know what I'm doing. :P

What the hell are you talking about? this forum has only two background colors, and with both colors it looks just fine.

Meh, who cares about IE? If you use a broken browser of course the web will look broken to you.

What if the sun goes out tomorrrow and we'd have to chat in the shades? Ugly white outline.

However, your response does indicate a malformed sense of humour. This wouldn't be a problem at all if you simply embraced any of the many superior alternatives to classic IE.

I used to hide messages in PNG's that wouldn't display properly in IE

Thats far less likely than the Persian's arrows blotting out the sun, and we already know from history that such posses no problem to real men.

24-bit PNGs are pretty awesome, I wish I could use them without breaking compatibility with all those people stuck in the 70s.

I remember having this discussion with you TradeMark before I think.
Or almost having it.
I'm curious if you're the only one here that uses IE...
