I think the bigger problem is that you can't click "get mod" or "get map" and be taken directly to a web-page where you can download it... I think if you clicked on a game you don't have and got a dialog with the 2 links on it (if you needed both) that would be better than being able to join without them and ask where to find them.

I don't see why this is a problem. Almost everything is on UF, just use the search function (or search plugin) et voila.

I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about making things more approachable to people new to Spring. Weren't we?

On a related note, I started a patch to allow for "locked map" battles.
You can't join the battle if you don't have the map, and the host can't
change the map once the battle has been created. I figure this might
help avoid the waiting-for-map download period that so many battles
seem to go through (sometimes caused by hosts changing the map
several times).

wouldnt that just force the host to rehost the game if more players arrive and he needs to change map?

I like the id├â┬®a of ppl not beeing able to join if they don't have the map (as an option ofc), but I don't like that the host won't be able of change the map... that's just stupid imho...
I would also like to see a function in the lobby clients that would remove all ready lights if the host changes map to something that the client doesn't have...
