This is blasphemy!
If that is really so (I still can't believed they dared touching one of the most sacred very staple of TA), I will boycott XTA until the CorCom gets his kilt back.
i'm assuming a certain amount of sarcasm here.. you do realise its the model based on the concept, high poly, renders by cavedog?
e: @Noize: changelog is in the mod file, the "gizmo" one.

the core com model is borked atm though; it cloaks crappily, it lacks the core model, its much to drab and grey, it walks lollably and stands with its legs scissored when building. if you watch it walk, it bumps up and down with every other step.
rumour on town is that its being improved, but if that never happens Id probably be okay with getting the pride of scotland back for another version

Well i decided to take a look,
- Some effects are really cool like the annihilator laser, but other effects are overdone IMO like the crawling bomb explosion, and the panther shooting its lightning.
- The Core commander looks kinda bland and is missing its kilt!!!
- I don't like that all red lasorz/green lasorz became some sort of plasma, this is TA we want LASERS, now its the sumo shooting weird blobs. also some the new morty isn't my taste, but @ least adjust the buildpicture.
can't think of more.. but @ least its refreshing, but pls bring back our lasors!!
Also under what license are these effects?

agreed the lasers are still a bit ugly, but they are still under consturction...
I like the new morty model personally, and the crawling bomb explosion is pretty cool. the blue bubble of light from the lightning weapons should probably be shrunk to about half size. I like the new look though. its got a more cartoony and bold feel than CA's awesome realism graphics.

And please revert the unit names... the current namesheme is made of loss imo....

the unit names were changed for purposes of development. it makes trauling endless through FBI files 10,000,000,000x faster and easier, and considering its being developed by what, two people, that time saver is very good. the only con is making spawning things in cheat mode slightly harder, and dont forget that typing the first few letters then pressing tab will automaticly finish the name for you. ie .give 1 core_fus will auto finish to core_fusion etc etc
also try remember this is an alpha. theres a good chance if somthing is shoddy and its mentioned here, it'll be fixed for the beta ^^

Thats BS, once you know the unitcodes, small unitnames like they used to be work way and way faster...

Some of the changes to simpler things are annoying, but ffs, the radar jamming tower used to be something like an AOLer would type in an exclamatory fashion, for example.

also, it shouldnt really effect 99% of players, and for those who want to cheat, just type in the first letters and use tab...

Also i need to make a seperate quickkey list for XTA, and i am lazy...

+1 It also screws up keybinds. I might actually play a little XTA if I could use keybinds in it (without having to make a whole new set).

Nice to see my Core Commander model finally put to use
Did you guys ever figure out how to do 2-sided faces and Transparency for Cloaking with the .s3o format?
He looks pretty damn good in game tho, probably could use his yellow backpack though.

Flozi made a patch that fixes cloaked s3o rendering.

After thousands of years of nano spray, plasma and flash spam core and arm battled to a standstill. Supplies were low on both sides. K-bot joints were creaking. D-guns were rusting. No one negotiated a cease fire. No one even really wanted a cease fire. But somehow it just happened. Well briefly at least while each side gathered its collective will for the next round.
The peace was deafening. It was a new experience. Core commander X18B45*1 had a most unusual sensation. That of idle contemplation. Why am I here? Why do we always flame porcers or commanders who can't counter brawlers? And who am I anyway? Lets have a look at myself - OMG WHAT IS THIS...THIS... THING I'M WEARING. IT LOOKS LIKE A... SKIRT!!!!!!!!!!
All these eons of fighting and I'd never paused to stop, think, and realise how totally sissy I look. X18B45*1 determined that action must happen. He ripped the skirt off and d-gunned it into nothingness. He quickly summoned up a council of the Core commander elders. He fumed. 'Why are we wearing these skirts. We must be the laughing stock of the universe.'.
The supreme core overseer looked dangerous. He fixed X18B45*1 with a menacing steely stare. 'Are...you...saying...I...look...like...a...sissy?' was delivered in a dangerous monotone. X18B45*1 started to feel rather uncomfortable. The steel in the supreme overseer eyes intensified. Guided by instinct, X18B45*1 rolled to the side as the supreme overseer's d-gun swung up and a blast scorched the air were he had been a split second ago. How he got out of there with one nano particle still connected to another no one will ever know. But he was followed. A commander who he had never met caught up with him. Glanced at him in silent understanding. And defiantly ripped the skirt from his torso.
The core rebellion had been born.
Maybe XTA needs to have 3 sides - Arm, Core, and Skirless Core

You can't take the Scotland out of Core!
That would be like taking the Confederacy out of the Terrans, or the utter fail out of Elves.

Btw, this stuff should all probably be discussed at the
xta forums instead of here...
