To be a trand setter you first have to know it all all the way through...
The chances of a newbie finding an amazing new build that nobody else thought of is much lower than of some pro that knows all the items and champions.

The first step is to try to think for yourself.

jesus fuck. I was in a match last night, 5/11/20... was lagged as fuck and every time my kill would go to an ally who would last hit the guy I was fighting.. I mean wtf, so frustrating. So do I get less xp or the same for assists? because I was having the damnedest time leveling.

Exp from enemy champions is always spread evenly to all nearby players, even if they had nothing to do with the kill, i.e. enemy was executed by tower with no player damage.

As for gold, there are 2 pools: kill gold and assist gold. If nobody gets an assist for a champion death, the assist gold is wasted and nobody receives it, the killer gets only kill gold. Assist gold is otherwise spread evenly to all assists. It is therefor better for the team to attempt to damage each enemy before their death.

UGH, had a terribad game earlier this morning. This is what the guy did:

irelia player(in case that is relevant).

stayed out of combat. when allies fought, he sat on the sideline. UNTIL an enemy was near dead. dashed in got the kill.

watch turrets die when he could have defended only coming out to attack the near dead enemy.

team fight? no, I'll stay out of if and snipe a few kills.

Spent the entire game off to the side not helping but close enough to get xp.

Tower push on his lane? nope staying behind the tower. so his partner was left fighting off 2 people.

the guy had 0 deaths but so many of the times we died was because we assumed that together we could take something but he would just leave us hanging.

The entire match was this way. The guy was entirely solo and didn't help the team at all. He literally would not defend the towers at all.

Is this proper or was my entire team justified in being pissed?

I see teams blaming their loss on a single player all the time, I did it myself often. It's not hard when it's 4 people blaming 1 player. There are no replays so it's impossible to objectively say who was playing good/bad in your scenario.

Well I am not blaming one guy but when you are laning there is a common mentality of the back and forth that is handled and an assumed mentality.

We won all the same, not thanks to that guy. It was just extremely frustrating.

It seems like the kind of thing, if your team wasn't winning he'd just be 0/0 and be totally useless. He can snipe kills if the team is winning but otherwise he's dick all.

I had a friend that played like that. He had great kill/death ratios, but was always 2-0, 3-0, 5-1 etc. He would just run away from close fights, and leave teammates to die. Needless to say, he didn't win many games with his nice looking ratios.

they should keep stats out of games like these.

It just make people play passive or cautiously to protect their stats so they can shout "HERPA DERP I GOT GOOD KD" it happens in HoN also.

No stat is really important apart from win ratio

People need to play for team and not for themselves. Sadly alot of players in this genre of game are selfish and don't realise its a team game.

SIDENOTE: The HoN devs beat the LoL devs in a 3v3 game of LoL. Kinda embarassing when the LoL devs claimed they were top 25 in the 3v3 ladder and the HoN devs are lucky to even pass the 1600 MMR rating in HoN (aka they are shit)

You should try to play with 4 teammates, if they are not crap they will understand that a tank with 1/8/12 stats can do a better job than a tank with 4/1/5 stats.

Who cares about devs skillz?

Fanboys bent on smearing X game. In case of Otherside it's LoL.

I play both ??

I am not a fanboy.

I can give a balanced view on Dota (5+ years experience) LoL (over 500 games) HoN (over 1000 games)

LoL is a fun casual game that you can't take seriously.

HoN Is a fun casual/serious game

Dota is fun casual/serious but the engine is dated hopefully dota 2 doesn't suck.

LoL is an ok game but it requires a lot less skill than HoN/Dota it took some dota/hon pro 4 weeks to top the ladder and thats starting from level 1.

If a player who wasn't even in the top 100 in HoN got to number 1 in LoL what does that tell you ?

Simple fact that a game without an even playing field cannot truly be competitive. Also alot of dumbed down shit like not being able to control your pet/images (shaco/annie etc etc)
and HoN is in the ESL they are just doing some qualifiers atm.

What HoN doesnt have on LOL is the matchmaking...
HoN matchmaking and hosting is horrible after you try the LOL one...
That's partially why the HoN community is considered to be terribad, the matchmaking system encourages shitty behavior.

LoL matchmaking is IMO pure awesome.
HoN though looks so so much better.
Every character looks great and makes you want to play it while in LoL you have to struggle to find a cool looking and feeling character.
LoL also has no minion denial :( why?
HoN has animation canceling which is a terribad mechanic.

LoL is free but requires so much grind just to gt the characters, though this does deliver a smoother introduction to the game as oppose to the HoN beginniner experience where you are plunged into 80 characters with hidden game features like the above mentioned animation canceling and you have absolutely no idea what to do or who to pick.

Hons graphics were imo worse. I had to turn off all the shaders so I could clearly make out the units. It is nice hon went with a more realistic style than the cartoony lol but the minions are really uninspired as are the characters. Don't even get me started on how low res and crappy the models and skin are in HON. I spent a good day just looking at this part of it.

I can see why you like it though, the greyish realism is more apealing to some but honestly, I started with HON, went to LOL and don't regret it.

honestly though, it is good of you to do some good and bad on both yan. I can respect that.

You can buy stuff in LOL with real currency.

as far as minion denial that is pretty much 90% of a hon match and I hate it. Pretty dull imo. It is neat that you can just raise your base stats instead of your ability levels but honestly again, I found it to be rather dull because mostly it is denying minion kills instead of having fun. The combat is less aggressive as a result. by less aggressive I mean that dying is more punishing in hon so it is less desireable where as in lol I'll die to take out a tower if i want. I know this changes from game to game and player to player but it was my experience.

There is LESS variety I find, with weaker art for the characters. The level in hon feels bigger and the texture is nicer but everything else is lackluster and it feels like a bargain bin game.

Yan you obv havent played HoN recently.

the old Matchmaking sucked but the new one works fine is imo better than the LoL one.

and creep denying isnt 90 percent of HoN games if you really think thats the case then LoL is your game :]

So much skill in farming in LoL, watching manyreasons (top 5 LoL player) playing aniva mid = so lulsy. Ulti/blast wave of creep TP whilst wave pushes and come back for next wave rinse repeat....

the short cd's and costs on everything really kills the game skill cap, Mana/skill management isn't needed.
