doofus.. d-gun is a weapon firing type.. the damage and paralize time can be controlled completely, I could change Peewees to fire d-gun style shots and they would still do the same damage the shot would just act differently, in this case it would go along the ground automatically after hitting allowing for a better emp effect..

another solution is to give the weapon a large collisionsize (~5 or so) tag, so that it hits things while still moving quickly. I've had really good success with that in conjunction with projectiles moving as fast as weaponvelocity=2500 and small (about 60% of a 1x1 footprint) units.

I think Dguns have better hit prediction, but i dont think that would help. Dguns still dont start doing the explodey thing until they hit the ground. Also, can dguns graphics be edited verymuch? Arent they stuck to sort of the one effect?
I'd go with the larger collision size, seems an elegant solution. Perhaps large enough that it starts hitting the ground right out of the cannon, to get the full AoE effect.

But that means that the unit would stun itself. Unless you make it EMP resistant. Which is bad in its own way; if you're playing GD vs GD, you should be able to EMP your opponent's EMP tanks if you get the drop on them.

Might be off topic, but one problem I've been having with EE is Map selection. Which maps would you guys recommend to play EE on?

we used to play the hell out of giant hills and valleys. Canyons by forb was also a popular one.

don't play EE on Xanth... URC get's a massive advantage due to bad typemap usage.
