Nothing like a happy turn of events.
Oh wait...
Jason chewed the tip of his pen, looking at the computer. ├óÔé¼┼ôSomething is wrong├óÔé¼┬Ø he murmured, ├óÔé¼┼ôSomething is very very wrong├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôMaybe they are being jammed├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said helpfully.
├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason shook his head, looking at the computer screen, ├óÔé¼┼ôEither...either there is no tac-con on the other end of the line or no one's responding├óÔé¼┬Ø
Lizzy looked at the floor of their quarters, not sure what to say. These were people that Jason had been fighting with, commanding, and leading. She felt a bit out of place. Jason sighed and looked at her. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThere's absolutely nothing I can do about it...except├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôNot coming├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy finished for him, ├óÔé¼┼ôbut I'm thinking if everyone on the other line is dead then maybe I should be really...really glad that you did come├óÔé¼┬Ø
Jason nodded. Then his brow furrowed ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going to check some other channels├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, bringing up the tac-con on his computer. He started to cycle through other channels. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
├óÔé¼┼ôI'm calling the Capitan├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, switching to the intercom. After a few minuets the Capitan picked up on his line. ├óÔé¼┼ôKeller here├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, looking at the screen.
├óÔé¼┼ôCapitan├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôHave we had any contact on our tac-con?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôSure├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, looking a little confused, ├óÔé¼┼ôWe've continued to send reports to the Marine Control Center back at Proxima├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôI thought the MCC was at Homeworld├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy cut in, surprised.
├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason turned to her, ├óÔé¼┼ôIts a common misconception. The center of human kind's sphere of influence has been Proxima for a hundred years. Because each Marine ship needs to have a contrail place to head to, it seemed to make sense to put it there├óÔé¼┬Ø
Keller cleared his throat, ├óÔé¼┼ôSo why were you asking?├óÔé¼┬Ø
Jason turned back to the screen ├óÔé¼┼ôWell...i've been trying to get in contact with my force's in Homeworld...but no one is picking up the phone. I checked every other channel I know and there is no response├óÔé¼┬Ø
Keller blinked, looking worried. ├óÔé¼┼ôLet me try marine channels├óÔé¼┬Ø he said. His image blinked off Jason's screen.
Keller typed in the codes for the marine band then aimed the destination at Homeworld. After a few moments he got a reply.
├óÔé¼┼ôacuat. Repeat. This is the emergency beacon. Please evacuate. Repea├óÔé¼┬Ø
Keller turned off the screen, feeling cold. He stood up and walked out of his quarters. Sarris was still asleep. He should wake her...but he couldn't bring him self to do so. He got to the bridge, where the night shift was still running. ├óÔé¼┼ôSensors├óÔé¼┬Ø he said ├óÔé¼┼ôI need a scanner and telescopes aimed at Homeworld. I need to know everything we can know├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôWell nothing unusual├óÔé¼┬Ø The sensor officer said, taking the strange order in stride, ├óÔé¼┼ôLight sources seem normal...Taychon out put is a little low. Remember thought these lights are...fifty three years out of data├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôRight├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, relaxing slightly. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh...but the HEPE emissions are off the charts├óÔé¼┬Ø the sensor officer said. Keller stood up, feeling very cold. He would have to tell the rest of the crew. But what? He decided on what was simple. The truth.
Lizzy, Jason, Sarris, Keller and the bridge crew all sat at the meeting table. Jason was there under another ├óÔé¼┼ôCivilian Advisement├óÔé¼┬Ø line, just like Lizzy. ├óÔé¼┼ôToday├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said ├óÔé¼┼ôAbout an hour ago...I was told by Jason that no line at Homeworld was responding to our Tac-con calls. As soon as I found that the marine line was just transmitting on the emergency beacon, I had the sensor officer scan the Homeworld system. It looked fine, but out light is roughly fifty years out of date...but HEPE emissions move faster then light├óÔé¼┬Ø
Lizzy sat up, hearing that.
├óÔé¼┼ôI have reason to believe that SOL has been destroyed├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said. That had the predictable response. ├óÔé¼┼ôI don't believe it├óÔé¼┬Ø someone said, loudly. Lizzy closed her eyes, and Jason immediately grabbed her hand with his, for both their sakes. Sarris looked shell shocked. ├óÔé¼┼ôHow do you know?├óÔé¼┬Ø the gunnery officer asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôHEPE emissions have leveled out at...fifteen hundred percent above normal├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWe only really know of one thing that could do that├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôS-02├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, opening her eyes ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're right. Everyone on Homeworld is either running or dead├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôBut├óÔé¼┬Ø Sarris said, but Lizzy looked at her, cutting her off.
├óÔé¼┼ôLets change our course├óÔé¼┬Ø The sensor officer said.
├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThere might still be survivors...we need to help as best we could├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going to send a scatter message├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason cut in, ├óÔé¼┼ôTo all of my assets in other systems. I have a few deep space ships that can help. They might be a few decades too late by the time they arrive, however├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôRight├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller nodded ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going to tell the crew...in a few weeks. I don't think that anyone should have to know this for too long├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôIgnorance is bliss├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, standing up. Jason followed her as they both left the room. Keller nodded at the bridge crew ├óÔé¼┼ôDismissed├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, rubbing his temples.
Eve twined her fingers through Hicks' chest hair. ├óÔé¼┼ômmmm├óÔé¼┬Ø she sighed softly, ├óÔé¼┼ôI love my furry husband├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôI think everyone is furry├óÔé¼┬Ø Hicks muttered, wincing as Eve plucked a single hair and sniffed it.
├óÔé¼┼ôI'm not so sure about that├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, ├óÔé¼┼ôUnless I grow a beard├óÔé¼┬Ø
Hicks laughed. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, smiling, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm serious├óÔé¼┬Ø. Hicks laughed louder. ├óÔé¼┼ôA big long beard├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, brushing her chin dramatically.
Eve laughed too, her facade of seriousness collapsing. Then her head snapped up and around. Hicks, still laughing, started at his wife's sudden motion. Eve stood up, climbing out of their bunk. ├óÔé¼┼ôWait├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, walking on cold feet to the door. She put her her ear to the door, as if listening for something.
├óÔé¼┼ôEve?├óÔé¼┬Ø Hicks asked, getting out of bed. He danced on the floor before getting some sandals on. The floor was cold. ├óÔé¼┼ôShhhh├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI think I hear something├óÔé¼┬Ø. She listened, trying to catch the whisper she had heard moments before. Then she stepped away from the door and shook her head. ├óÔé¼┼ôI guess...I guess I'm going crazy├óÔé¼┬Ø she said.
Hicks hugged her around the middle, smiling. ├óÔé¼┼ôI still love you├óÔé¼┬Ø he said. Eve groaned as he pulled her back to the bed. But, even later, she still had a nagging suspicion on the back of her mind. She had heard something. Just what?
Mike sat down at the bar. After a few minuets he heard someone walk behind him. Then Lizzy sat down next to him. ├óÔé¼┼ôHaven't seen you in a while├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, calling up a drink. Mike didn't look at her, drinking his drink. ├óÔé¼┼ôNope├óÔé¼┬Ø he said.
├óÔé¼┼ôShame you missed Eve's wedding├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, trying not to get angry, thinking about that. ├óÔé¼┼ôYeah├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said, ├óÔé¼┼ôDamn shame...but I was sandbagged, just like Keller├óÔé¼┬Ø
Lizzy sipped her drink. Then she slammed it on the table and looked at Mike. ├óÔé¼┼ôMike├óÔé¼┬Ø she said ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat the hell is your problem?├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôExcuse me?├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike asked, feeling indignant.
├óÔé¼┼ôEver sense Jason showed up...you've been avoiding me├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike turned on her ├óÔé¼┼ôI've been avoiding Jason├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôSo you're jealous of me and Jason├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, ├óÔé¼┼ôIs that is?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôYes├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said.
Lizzy blinked ├óÔé¼┼ôOh├óÔé¼┬Ø she said ├óÔé¼┼ôWell...thats that then├óÔé¼┬Ø she stood up ├óÔé¼┼ôI'll see you later when you've become less of an asshole├óÔé¼┬Ø. Mike didn't watch as she walked to the door of the bar. The door opened and closed. Mike sipped his drink. He was being an asshole. He still couldn't stop himself. He placed the cup on the counter top, closing his eyes. This was stupid. He stood up and walked to the door. He caught up with Lizzy half way down the hall.
├óÔé¼┼ôLizzy├óÔé¼┬Ø he said. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat?├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy turned around.
Mike opened his mouth, lost his words and closed his mouth. Then he braced himself and said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm sorry├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôYou're what?├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy asked. Mike closed his eyes ├óÔé¼┼ôI said I'm sorry├óÔé¼┬Ø he said.
├óÔé¼┼ôGood├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, ├óÔé¼┼ôGo check up on Helena. She's been a bit lonely these last few months├óÔé¼┬Ø. She turned away, whistling as she walked down the hall.
Helena was reading her data slate, rereading to be more precise. She, as she normally did in times like this, wished that. She wished that Tapp was here. She heard a buzz on the door. Helena got up, slowly, and walked to the door. ├óÔé¼┼ôWho is it?├óÔé¼┬Ø she asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôMike here├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said.
Helena opened the door. ├óÔé¼┼ôUh, Helena├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said ├óÔé¼┼ôI was wondering if you would like to go to the bar...together?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Helena blinked ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø she said. ├óÔé¼┼ôUnless you have other plans├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said, raising his hands.
├óÔé¼┼ôNo...no├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said ├óÔé¼┼ôI'd be glad to go├óÔé¼┬Ø she smiled. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike gestured down the hall. Helena followed him, smiling.

Why are you calling our planet/solar system SOL? I know it's an acronym for
a solar system and also the latin name for the sun, but it has nothing to do with OUR solar system, nor Howeworld...
oh wait, found it. Refrence to startrek and Galactic Civilizations...

I could have sworn that our Solar system is called SOL for all intents and purposes I mean what else are we going to call it? Also references? If so...purely by accident.

Guess what...
Guess what?
GUESS WHAT!
ITS A NEW EPISODE!!
├óÔé¼┼ôSo you're going to have to lay off the alcohol├óÔé¼┬Ø the doctor said, crossing her hands over her chest. ├óÔé¼┼ôI...a...what?├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôExcessive alcohol consumption is bad for pregnancy...and you. I've wanted to get you to stop drinking ever sense you came on bored├óÔé¼┬Ø the doctor said.
├óÔé¼┼ôDoc I-├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, but the doctor cut her off.
├óÔé¼┼ôI know you are a brain core, and I know you have more implants then most of us have hair, and I know that this makes you super strong, super fast, and able to leap a skyscraper in a single bound...but you're biological bits, no matter how wound up they are with clock work are still going to take a beating form what you've been drinking...and lady what you've been drinking could run a car├óÔé¼┬Ø the doctor said, ├óÔé¼┼ôSo thats finally. From now on get a soda or something...diet would be best├óÔé¼┬Ø
Lizzy frowned and walked out of the doctors office.
├óÔé¼┼ôThat was mean├óÔé¼┬Ø The nurse said. The doctor looked at him and smiled ├óÔé¼┼ôYou know she needs to drink less├óÔé¼┬Ø she said.
Lizzy walked down the hall. After a few steps she went past an intersection. Jason had been waiting at the intersection, and he walked out to join Lizzy. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo whats the wonderful news?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo drinking and only 'safe' drugs├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, her voice making it clear what she thought of safe drugs.
Helena sipped her drink down and laughed. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo how is you're love life going?├óÔé¼┬Ø she asked, looking at Mike. ├óÔé¼┼ôNot so well├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said, smiling, ├óÔé¼┼ôNot so well at all├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôWell mine is going great├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, leaning in. Mike, feeling a faint hope grow in his stomach, said, ├óÔé¼┼ôReally?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôYeah├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI met this real nice guy├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôI'll have to meet him├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said, the hope crashing.
├óÔé¼┼ôYou already have├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou remember Cain, right?├óÔé¼┬Ø
Mike slammed his head into the bar. ├óÔé¼┼ôAre you okay?├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena asked, looking at him worriedly.
Then Jason and Lizzy sat down next to Mike, chatting about something or other. Mike slowly raised his head. ├óÔé¼┼ôHey Mike├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said. Mike slammed his head into the bar top again.
├óÔé¼┼ôIs he okay?├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôYeah├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said, raising his head, ├óÔé¼┼ôJust fine├óÔé¼┬Ø
Helena heard the bitterness in his voice and set her cup down. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo alcohol, no booze├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy was muttering, ordering up a syringe of happy juice. Nothing more then a really simple, none dangerous designer drug. But, Lizzy thought, it was no god damned fun. She slipped it into her neck and sighed, feeling slightly better. Slightly.
Jason drank coffee. He didn't want to rub it in Lizzy's face, so he decided he too would stop drinking. Not that it was a problem, as he hadn't drunk much for the past...decade. He felt a thick rock in his stomach. Homeworld was destroyed, as completely and utterly as it could have been. Every single person he had left there was dead. The others, with the exception of Lizzy, thought that someone must have survived.
Mike and Helena were laughing. Or more accurately Helena was laughing and Mike was smiling halfheartedly. They didn't know, not yet. Lizzy kissed Jason, quite suddenly. Mike stood up. ├óÔé¼┼ôI need to get some work done├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, walking out of the bar.
Helena followed him. ├óÔé¼┼ôMike, wait up├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said.
Mike turned half around and slowed down slightly. Helena matched pace with him. ├óÔé¼┼ôDon't you have to spend some quality time with you're boyfriend├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike asked bitterly.
Helena frowned ├óÔé¼┼ôMike├óÔé¼┬Ø she said. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou don't know what its like, loosing someone like-├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike started, not thinking.
Then he was staggering, pain welling from his cheek. ├óÔé¼┼ôDon't you dare├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, her voice low, ├óÔé¼┼ôThink that I don't know what you're going for. I love...I loved Tapp. Now she's dead. You love Lizzy, and she has a husband. Tough. You might get Lizzy, some day. I...will...never...get...Tapp...back!├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena punctuated each word with an accent. She was crying.
Mike turned away, knowing he was being a bastard. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo go home and grow up!├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena practically shouted ├óÔé¼┼ôYou bastard!├óÔé¼┬Ø. It hurt to have what you were thinking thrown at you. ├óÔé¼┼ôHelena I'm sorry├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said. But she was gone, walking down the corridor, her fists balled up. Two technicians, both of whom were worn and tired from trying to keep the entire damn ship operating, stepped aside in her path.
Helena's fist slammed into the punching bag and the thing almost folded in half. It was her first punch, but it was also her last punch. Helena felt her wrist crack slightly, and she closed her eyes, gritting her teeth. She flapped her hand, trying to get the kinks out. It still hurt. ├óÔé¼┼ôSon of a god damned bitch├óÔé¼┬Ø she muttered, feeling the wrist ├óÔé¼┼ôI think I...broke my wrist├óÔé¼┬Ø. It started to really really hurt. ├óÔé¼┼ôGod damn it├óÔé¼┬Ø She muttered, looking at the bad. It had a noticeable dent in it. ├óÔé¼┼ôIf this didn't hurt so much├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, turning to the door out of the dojo, ├óÔé¼┼ôI would feel much better├óÔé¼┬Ø
She walked into the doctors office. The doctor looked up from a technician with a rather large burn on his shoulder. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhats the problem?├óÔé¼┬Ø the doctor asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôI think I broke my wrist├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, wincing as she inadvertently jarred her arm. ├óÔé¼┼ôRight...Nick, put a cast on that├óÔé¼┬Ø the doctor said, looking at her nurse.
Nick walked over and slipped a glove over the hand, Helena wincing as he did so. The glove stretched all the way up to the elbow, then tightened. Nick grabbed a cutter and cut the finger tips off and Helena waggled them, testing her reach. ├óÔé¼┼ôThanks├óÔé¼┬Ø She said, smiling.
├óÔé¼┼ôKepp it on for about three weeks, then check back here. Its perfectly fine to shower with it on, and it should itch for a while, but that passes. Any problems, check in with us├óÔé¼┬Ø Nick said. Helena nodded and walked out.
Eve watched as Helena left the dojo. She had done quite a number on her wrist. Eve had heard the crack as the other woman punched the bag. ├óÔé¼┼ôEve├óÔé¼┬Ø her sparring partner said. Eve blinked and looked back at the other marine she was practicing with. She had to get back into the rhythm of life. Act normal. She thought that if you acted normal, then you might be...normal. ├óÔé¼┼ôCome on├óÔé¼┬Ø Lee said, raising her hands. Eve nodded, falling into a fighting stance. Lee swung and Eve ducked, the punch going over her head. The other woman kept herself centered, not over reaching, so Eve didn't have an opening. But still she tested the defenses with light jabs.
Lee circled around Eve, grinning. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou may be a big bad ass teek├óÔé¼┬Ø Lee murmured under her breath, ├óÔé¼┼ôBut can you punch?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Eve snapped out a back hand. Lee shook herself, glad she had a mouth guard. ├óÔé¼┼ôApparently so├óÔé¼┬Ø Lee said, grinning ├óÔé¼┼ôNo more Missus nice Lee├óÔé¼┬Ø. Lee snapped out a double kick to Eve's chest. Eve jumped backwards and then danced forward, dancing around the other woman and grabbing her around the neck. ├óÔé¼┼ôCheck├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said. Lee nodded and Eve let her go. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou know├óÔé¼┬Ø Lee said ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're also super strong and super fast. Do you have any other sparring partners?├óÔé¼┬Ø
Eve smiled, though she felt a little bad. ├óÔé¼┼ôIts okay├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI understand completely├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôOther sparring partners, you say?├óÔé¼┬Ø A familer voice rang out. Eve spun around. Michelle shucked her coat off. She wore a simple sparring outfit under it.
├óÔé¼┼ôWhat the hell are you doing here?├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve asked, anger rising. Lee was gibbering, recognizing the woman.
Michelle cricked her neck ├óÔé¼┼ôLooking for a good time├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI hear you heard about you're homeworld├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôWhat?├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve asked.
Michelle smiled ├óÔé¼┼ôSo they haven't told you. Thats all right. I just came for a sparring match├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôYou...what?├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve asked. Lee was backing away, slowly.
├óÔé¼┼ôIts all above the table├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said ├óÔé¼┼ôI didn't come to kill you, or anyone else. I just wanted to see how you've...progressed├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôMore like you're master wants to see how far I've progressed├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, bringing her hands up to fight. Michelle struck first. A blade slashed and Eve snapped her forearm blades out a moment before her head was detached. ├óÔé¼┼ôCome on├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, grinning ├óÔé¼┼ôYou can be faster then that├óÔé¼┬Ø
She slashed quickly across Eve's chest. Eve danced back, her arms sweeping backwards with her. She leaped forward, almost grazing the roof with her head. Michelle twisted and Eve went past her. Eve blocked Michelle's blade with her own, spinning to face the other woman. Their blades met. ├óÔé¼┼ôHaving fun yet?├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve asked, grinning. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're slow├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said sweetly, ├óÔé¼┼ôMuch much too slow├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Michelle kicked out with her mind. A thin cut appeared on Eve's cheek, and she danced backwards. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said ├óÔé¼┼ôThats all I really needed to know├óÔé¼┬Ø she cricked her neck. ├óÔé¼┼ôHave fun with you're other partners├óÔé¼┬Ø. Then she was gone. Lee had gone, as had most everyone else in the room. Eve turned around a bit before the marine squad ran into the room, guns bared.
Keller was called to the bridge by two calls at the same time. The first call was his sensors officer. The young man looked ecstatic. ├óÔé¼┼ôSir! Sir!├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm receiving a message from Homeworld's direction!├óÔé¼┬Ø. Keller sat straight up in his chair, hope suddenly shining on him. Then another call bleeped. Keller put the first call on hold and looked at a marine...Himmler was his name. ├óÔé¼┼ôSir├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, his thick accent as annoying as ever ├óÔé¼┼ôMichelle has appeared and disspaered again├óÔé¼┬Ø. Keller groaned ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat happened this time?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked. Then he shook his head ├óÔé¼┼ôBelay that. I need to check on something first├óÔé¼┬Ø.
The sensor officer's eyes were wide as he tapped his headset, listening to the message. Keller walked into the bridge, practically running. ├óÔé¼┼ôPlay it for me├óÔé¼┬Ø He said. ├óÔé¼┼ôRight├óÔé¼┬Ø The sensor officer said ├óÔé¼┼ôIts not a tachyon message though...its a laser message├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôLaser?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôYeah├óÔé¼┬Ø The sensor officer said. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said ├óÔé¼┼ôPlay it├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ô-es. This is the Prometheus...and...god. We're a...you're marines, right? Fuck. We're just a god damned food hauler...three months from you're position├óÔé¼┬Ø static ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd the refug... we...├óÔé¼┬Ø Static ├óÔé¼┼ôed everyone. It...Jupiter fell in five da├óÔé¼┬Ø Static ├óÔé¼┼ôWe├óÔé¼┬Ø static.
├óÔé¼┼ôThe message repeats├óÔé¼┬Ø The sensor officer said. The first thing Keller felt was crushing, crushing defeated. So it was true. Homeworld, SOL, was gone. Gone and dead. But someone had survived and were fleeing straight away from the system, and they had sent a message. ├óÔé¼┼ôCan we pin point them?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôThey are about...three months at current acceleration. If we push harder we could get there four, five weeks├óÔé¼┬Ø the gunnery officer chimed in.
Keller nodded ├óÔé¼┼ôMake it so├óÔé¼┬Ø he said.
Michelle appeared on her mountain. Taraka stood there, looking at the sky. ├óÔé¼┼ôThe Galactic Core├óÔé¼┬Ø he said softly, ├óÔé¼┼ôIt is still amazing├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôTime has softened Eve, Master├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôHer hand to hand has suffered these past months. Don't know about her mind...but then again that has always been her strongest aspect├óÔé¼┬Ø
Taraka sighed ├óÔé¼┼ôMichelle├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou don't have to call me master anymore├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Michelle walked to his side ├óÔé¼┼ôI like calling you master...master├óÔé¼┬Ø She nodded her head ├óÔé¼┼ôYou...you gave me a new life. You brought me above those...monkeys. I'm...a goddess, now. I...love...├óÔé¼┬Ø she paused ├óÔé¼┼ôTo serve you├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Taraka looked at her. He felt strange. He could already hear the mocking laughter of his friend, telling him about how Taraka had dismissed the idea's of emotional constants. ├óÔé¼┼ôWe have to get ready├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôbut this will be an assassination. No flashiness, no tricks, just walk up and shoot...they are coming up on the fleeing Humans... this will be you're greatest task├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôYes...my master├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, smiling ├óÔé¼┼ôIf you wish of anything else...just ask├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Taraka vanished. Michelle was left standing there. Her hair flapped in the wind. Then she sat down and contemplated her planet. Maybe a tree could liven up that boulder. Maybe life should start to encroach, some day. Michelle nodded, thinking that. Then she was gone, as if she had never been there.

Oh its christmas at ground zero! Just seconds left to go!
What a crazy fluke, we're gonna get nuked on this jolly holiday!
What a crazy fluke, we're gonna get nuked on this jooooolly holidaaaaaay!
├óÔé¼┼ôWe've got visual├óÔé¼┬Ø the sensors officer said, looking at his screen. ├óÔé¼┼ôPatch it through, will you?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked, leaning over his screen. The window blipped open and he looked at what was beaming a laser message to them. It was a fleet, of sorts. He could pick up a very large, conical shaped, star ship in the middle, surrounded by a plethora of very small shuttles. The shuttles were tethered to the larger ship, and he could see the atmosphere leaking from them all, creating a hazy cloud around them. ├óÔé¼┼ôThey have sprung a leak somewhere├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller murmured, ├óÔé¼┼ôDo we have an infrared reading?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôNot enough to pick out individual life signs├óÔé¼┬Ø The sensors officer said.
├óÔé¼┼ôHave we gotten any thing new in the message?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø the sensors officer said ├óÔé¼┼ôIts garbled all the way...I think its something wrong with the transmitter├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôRight├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, ├óÔé¼┼ôKeep tabs on them and inform me if anything changes├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôYes...sir├óÔé¼┬Ø the sensor officer trailed off. Keller looked at his screen. One of the shuttles had just exploded, flames ripping silently out and around its hull. Keller gaped. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat the hell just happened?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôI have no idea├óÔé¼┬Ø the sensor's officer said.
The fleet and the Hannibal came together five weeks later. Miller chewed his finger nail. Blood was coming from the edge's of his finger tips, from where he had chewed to hard. But it was all that he could do, to stop himself from breaking down every single day. It seemed a strange thing that would keep someone sane. After this hellish year, he had grown a very unruly beard, able to barely keep it under control with a straight razor made out of part of a sheered off bulkhead. His eyes were bagged under, and worry lines had etched themselves in his face like canyons.
Then his computer screen flickered on and he saw the Capitan of the vessel they had been sending a message too. The image came through cleanly. Miller was instantly struck dumb with happiness. Someone who could shoulder the burden. For a year he had wished that the government would come back. This man embodied everything he thought of when he thought of the colonial marines. Nice hair cut, clean shaven, responsible people. ├óÔé¼┼ôThank the goddess├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller murmured, then louder, ├óÔé¼┼ôIts...its a good thing you're out here, Capitan...I don't know how much longer we could have lasted├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôI am Capitan Ted Keller, CGS Hannibal├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, nodding slightly, ├óÔé¼┼ôDo you need assistance?├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Miller cracked slightly, ├óÔé¼┼ôDo...Do we need assistance? Dose it look like we fucking need assistance!├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Keller blinked ├óÔé¼┼ôSorry├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôIts jus-├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôNo, no no├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm sorry...its just its been one hell of a year. We need assistance, we need food, we need...we need some really big guns├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôFirst...start at the begging├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said.
├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said ├óÔé¼┼ôF-First the asteroid hit Pluto. The colony there reported strange things. Then a shower impacted Europa, some of the other moons. Several fell into the planet itself. Have you seen a gas giant die? I have. Then Homeworld...Mars...the Belt. They were all hit. Asteroids got through the defense's as if they were nothing. Within a month...they were all dead. Ships tried to hel, an entire armada of marine ships came in. Things...things took them down as if they were paper, cutting...slicing. Its as if the Gods and Goddess were real and decided to...exterminate us├óÔé¼┬Ø
Keller felt cold as Miller's almost hysterical mono log continued. ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm just a food transport. I take strange and exotic foodstuffs from one star system to another. Sixty thousand people have been eating nothing but Zippo-brand food sticks for the last five months. We started with one hundred thousand. We had to...just drop the dead out of the air locks├óÔé¼┬Ø
Keller nodded ├óÔé¼┼ôWe have more food then we can spare, and we have seed for setting up new hydroponic gardens. I think we can jury rig up some farms on you're vessel. I'm going to send you a full compliment of marines and engineers, some of the crew. We can start to move people onto this ship, as we are vastly understaffed. Its fine for transit, but if we get into combat we're going to need more-├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôCombat├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said ├óÔé¼┼ôThats the other thing I wanted to tell you...we're being followed. About a month or so behind us...is another fleet├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôAnother fleet?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhy aren't they with you?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôBecause...Be...Because when I asked them to help us├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said, practically crying ├óÔé¼┼ôThey opened fire!├óÔé¼┬Ø
The marines were like angles to the unwashed survivors on the Prometheus. Half of the ship was filled with food goods, strange or weird food goods that people used to pay thousands of credits to eat. Now people were completely sick of them. When the first supplies arrived, people were breaking down into sobs of joy, eating bread for the first time in a year. Then the engineers took one look at their living arrangements, witch were little more then taking the cargo hold and building a massive array of tents and makeshift houses, and said ├óÔé¼┼ôWe can do better├óÔé¼┬Ø.
The single surviving doctor on the Hannibal, who had once only had to deal with some broken bones, some burns here and there, now had to deal with sixty thousand near starved people, many of them suffering from a verity of injuries that she had only read about. She didn't know how to amputate, when she could just fuse or bind a bone easily. But many people had crushed hands, broken legs that had healed improperly, gotten infected. It was a nightmare that she had to set up shop in the middle of. Her clinic, hastily thrown up in the center of the cargo hold. People were swarming too her, including ten doctors who thought of her as nothing less then a demi-god, just because she had some painkillers, splints and clean bandages.
Helena moved the crates, awkwardly because of her hand, and tried not to look at the people around her. She was moving food stuffs off the shuttle that had come to the ship. Then. ├óÔé¼┼ôHelena?├óÔé¼┬Ø she heard someone croak. Helena looked up, her face carefully neutral. She knew that only by not feeling she could-. ├óÔé¼┼ôMom?├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, her carefully neutral face cracking. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh Helena!├óÔé¼┬Ø her mother hobbled to her, bent with age and using a cane because of a twisted leg. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're alive├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, hugging her around the middle. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're father...you're brothers...they are dead├óÔé¼┬Ø her mother said, her voice dead, ├óÔé¼┼ôTorn apart by the Soots├óÔé¼┬Ø
Helena looked around for a chair. Her mother looked near to collapsing. ├óÔé¼┼ôHere, sit down here├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said, offering an empty crate to her mother. ├óÔé¼┼ôCorporal!├óÔé¼┬Ø A Sargent shouted ├óÔé¼┼ôGet a move on!├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôI need to get back to work mother├óÔé¼┬Ø Helena said ├óÔé¼┼ôI'll find you again, I promise├óÔé¼┬Ø. Her mother nodded as Helena dissapeared into the crowd.
Eve worked doggedly, her eyes closed. She didn't need to see to move food crates. She also didn't need to see the press of starving, dying and the dead. The worst part, in her mind, was the dead were still walking, still eating. But they didn't live like the others. They had lost...something in their hearts, and were just...there. It was haunting. She finished moving crates, and opened her eyes slightly. ├óÔé¼┼ôLady?├óÔé¼┬Ø A little boy said ├óÔé¼┼ôCan you help my mom...she's not moving?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Eve took a step backwards. ├óÔé¼┼ôLady├óÔé¼┬Ø Another person said ├óÔé¼┼ôI need help over-├óÔé¼┬Ø he was cut off by another voice asking her for help. And another.
Glickson ran his hands through his hair. ├óÔé¼┼ôReport, Capitan├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said. ├óÔé¼┼ôIt...its a night mare over there├óÔé¼┬Ø Glickson said ├óÔé¼┼ôI don't think we can save all of them├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôHow many do you think we can save?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôNot enough├óÔé¼┬Ø Glickson said. Keller closed his eyes ├óÔé¼┼ôOur food supplies are shot to hell. We need to get some kind of farm up, somehow├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Glickson said, crossing his arms behind his back, ├óÔé¼┼ôWe can move about five hundred people out of the Prometheus and get them stowed away here. It'll be crowded, but we'd have some room to set up hydroponics├óÔé¼┬Ø. Keller nodded ├óÔé¼┼ôThe farm. Make sure its big. Very big├óÔé¼┬Ø
Miller walked in after the marine Capitan left. ├óÔé¼┼ôKeller├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôIf I wasn't married I would kiss you├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Keller sighed. ├óÔé¼┼ôWe're just doing our jobs├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI think you would do the same in my position├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôNot everyone would├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said, bitterly.
├óÔé¼┼ôAbout that├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said ├óÔé¼┼ôWho opened fire on you?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôA bunch of brain cores├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThey threw away their humanity and turned on us when we needed help├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôHow did you know they were brain cores?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked, uncomfortably aware that a third of his crew were brain cores.
├óÔé¼┼ôThey said so├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said, fury evident on his face ├óÔé¼┼ôThey said that they were the Transcendi, ready to take their rightful place in the galaxy├óÔé¼┬Ø
Keller closed his eyes ├óÔé¼┼ôHow many of them were they?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôThree ships├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said ├óÔé¼┼ôAll about the size of yours...and each of them heavily armed├óÔé¼┬Ø
Keller nodded ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø he said ├óÔé¼┼ôI have some good news for you├óÔé¼┬Ø. Miller smiled ├óÔé¼┼ôYou...all of you are good news├óÔé¼┬Ø he said.
├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said ├óÔé¼┼ôYou haven't met one of my crew. Her name...Her name is Elizabeth Montoya├óÔé¼┬Ø. Miller's eyes bugged. ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd she is an expert in...what did you call them? Soots?├óÔé¼┬Ø
Miller turned around, gaping. Lizzy walked in, holding a data slate. Miller practically dropped to his knees ├óÔé¼┼ôIs it true?├óÔé¼┬Ø He asked ├óÔé¼┼ôAre you...her?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Lizzy looked away, eyes closed. ├óÔé¼┼ôYeah├óÔé¼┬Ø she said ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm me├óÔé¼┬Ø

Some more stuff is happening. Now I have to do some homework...how annoying.
Mankowski smashed the nail into place and moved onto the next one. This place stank to high heaven, with over sixty thousands men, women and children crammed into the place. The cargo bay was huge, so huge it almost felt like being underground rather then on a star ship, and the waist was collected in orderly buckets then dumped out the airlocks, but still...sixty thousand people crammed into one space, even one as big as this, was bound to smell. Mankowski continued to build the home he, and fifty other marines, were working on. The engineer's of the marines had taken the least casualties, and where rushing from one end of the Prometheus to the other, fixing, repairing, and building.
Douglas smashed his own finger and dropped both the nail and the hammer with a yelp. ├óÔé¼┼ôCareful man├óÔé¼┬Ø Mankowski said to his friend, ├óÔé¼┼ôCareful├óÔé¼┬Ø. Douglas bent to pick up the hammer, but a woman rushed to help him. ├óÔé¼┼ôThanks mam├óÔé¼┬Ø Douglas said, bowing his head to her. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo...you're building us a home├óÔé¼┬Ø The woman said. She, like every single other person on the Prometheus, looked old and bowed by age. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Douglas said, starting up his work again, ├óÔé¼┼ôIts not like I had anything else to do├óÔé¼┬Ø. The 'house' they were building was made up of bits of wall paneling, welded together with some other bits of different wall paneling placed over the top.
The new homes started to spread across the floor of the cargo hold, looking like a grid. Inside each people began to rediscover something they had lost. Privacy. Then Mankowski saw something. He was finishing up a weld on the wall of the latest house he was building when someone shouted ├óÔé¼┼ôThief!├óÔé¼┬Ø. The thief, if he was that, ran, clutching a bag to his chest. Then someone stepped in his path and stabbed him with a jagged piece of metal. The thief fell, blood staining his shirt red. Then he was stabbed again and again by the man who had stopped him. Then a crowd of children, women and other men fell on his corpse. When they had left, there was nothing on him. Not even underwear. Each bit of cloth was gone, carried away to be used in new places.
Mankowski gaped, staring at the corpse. The man who had stabbed the corpse grabbed its legs and dragged it to the air locks, where a pile of dead was being collected. ├óÔé¼┼ôLast one├óÔé¼┬Ø The man at the air lock said, not even taking note. He did a quick head count of the ten deaders, each of whom was completely naked, and shoved them into the air lock. Then the air lock depressurized and a small device shoved the corpses into space. The man at the air lock crossed himself, then drew a pentagram in the air, then mumbled some words. Then he went back to doing whatever he had been doing before.
Mankowski stared, completely shocked. Then someone tapped him on the shoulder. ├óÔé¼┼ôFirst time you've seen that happen?├óÔé¼┬Ø it was Mike, ├óÔé¼┼ôIts pretty...sick├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôIt's pretty smart├óÔé¼┬Ø Mankowski said, turning to the Lieutenant. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said ├óÔé¼┼ôIts efficient...don't know what else has to be said about it├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôWell its either that or dying├óÔé¼┬Ø Mankowski muttered, going back to his work. Then someone shouted. Mankowski and Mike looked up and saw that a long metal pole, being used to support a building project, collapsed. Mankowski was shoved out of the way by Mike. Then the pole smashed into Mike, then through Mike. He grunted, feeling the thing rip through his shoulder. He jerked himself off, once again thanking the snobbish parents who had made him a brain core. ├óÔé¼┼ôGod damn it├óÔé¼┬Ø He muttered, feeling the hole. He was bleeding something fierce, and parts of his implant net work were completely shot. ├óÔé¼┼ôI need to see a doctor├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, turning away. Mankowski followed helping.
Then a bit of metal bounced off Mike's back. ├óÔé¼┼ôBrain core!├óÔé¼┬Ø someone shouted. The people in the crowd, who had ignored the shouts and screams off the pole collapsing, turned at that word. ├óÔé¼┼ôBrain core!├óÔé¼┬Ø A man shouted, pointing at Mike. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh hell├óÔé¼┬Ø Mike said, reaching for his gun. Mankowski did the same. ├óÔé¼┼ôBrain core!├óÔé¼┬Ø A woman shouted, picking up a discarded bit of metal. She chucked it at Mike, who ducked. His wound complained, and Mike realized he was feeling very very weak. The crowd was looking meaner every second, some of them producing the same makeshift weapon that the man who stabbed the thief had used.
Mike brought his gun up and fired over their heads. The crowd ducked as his gun spoke loudly, echoing in the overwhelmingly loud cargo bay. Mike's arm slowly dropped. ├óÔé¼┼ôEveryone just...back...of├óÔé¼┬Ø he collapsed, his body going into . Mankowski stood over his commanding officer, worried about his blood loss. The crowd, seeing this, started to advance. One of them ran forward, weapon ready. Mankowski shot him in the leg. The man stumbled, falling to the ground. ├óÔé¼┼ôNow just back off!├óÔé¼┬Ø Mankowski shouted, ├óÔé¼┼ôThis man is here to help! We need to get him to the doctor!├óÔé¼┬Ø.
A man stepped forward ├óÔé¼┼ôThis...man is a brain core! His kind almost destroyed this ship, and killed ten thousand people!├óÔé¼┬Ø he shouted, ├óÔé¼┼ônow tell us he is here to help├óÔé¼┬Ø
Mankowski brought his gun to bear on the speakers head ├óÔé¼┼ôShut up├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôNow I'm going to take Lieutenant Dobson to the medic. Anyone who gets in my way is shot├óÔé¼┬Ø. The man who he had hit in the leg moaned, trying to crawl away. The others in the crowd looked at him, not wanting to share his fate. Mankowski picked up Mike, grunting. This man was heavy. He got him over his shoulder, wheezing, and pushed through the crowds.
The doctor cauterized and closed the wound, filling it with a sealant. Then she snapped her tool close and said ├óÔé¼┼ôNext!├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôShouldn't you├óÔé¼┬Ø Mankowski started.
├óÔé¼┼ôHe's a brain core├óÔé¼┬Ø The doctor said, her voice tired, ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd I have sixty thousand people to deal with. Take him away├óÔé¼┬Ø. She gestured in another wounder person, her motions mechanical and as efficient as possible. She looked completely exhausted, even with six civilian doctors working along side of her. None of them asked to take a break. None of them had taken breaks ever sense the Hannibal met up with the Prometheus.
Eve hadn't slept for three days. She was putting together her fifteenth home, working as fast and as best as she could. The people waiting for the home were watching with something close to amazement. Eve needed to cut one of the sheets in half, and was sick of having to slowly move the laser cutter through it. So, without thinking, she snapped her left forearm blade out ands cut the metal in half with ease. She snapped the blade back into her arm and started to weld the metal together.
The people waiting for the house stared, mouths agape. ├óÔé¼┼ôIs she magic, mom?├óÔé¼┬Ø The kid asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôShush├óÔé¼┬Ø the mother said. ├óÔé¼┼ôMam├óÔé¼┬Ø The father stood up, ├óÔé¼┼ôthat is some implant. I've never seen anything like it├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôImplant?├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve asked. Then she blinked, realizing what she had done, and nodded ├óÔé¼┼ôYeah...implant├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, turning back to her work.
Finished, she stepped away from the house. ├óÔé¼┼ôMove in├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, cricking her neck ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd try to survive├óÔé¼┬Ø.
The mother kissed Eve on the cheek. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're an angle├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, walking into their new house. Eve sighed, wishing gratitude felt as good as a nice sex. She hadn't seen Hicks for the past three days, as the marines were being run dry against the massive workload that needed to be done on the Prometheus. The people on board were helping, best they could, but it still seemed that even with sixty thousand egar helpers the marines were understaffed.
Eve walked down the cargo bay, shoving through the crowds as best she could. She didn't like this area of the ship. It was the 'shanty town' of the shanty town, where the worst people lived. It was either bad luck, or bad folks seeking out bad folks, but it seemed the most deaders came from this area. The houses were being built slowly here, as not many people seemed to want to help. Eve hurried past some of the finished homes. Each house was little more then four walls and whatever the people could scrounge together. No roof's.
It was over before Eve knew it. She was walking along. Then she was inside one of the houses, a hand wrapped around her mouth. ├óÔé¼┼ôAh├óÔé¼┬Ø a voice hissed in her ear ├óÔé¼┼ôSome new ass├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Eve bit the man's hand. Blood flowed into her mouth and she spat it out as the man jerked his hand away, screaming. ├óÔé¼┼ôBitch!├óÔé¼┬Ø he shouted. A knife stuck through Eve's stomach. She sighed. This was her last clean uniform. Blood started to soak into the cloth. Eve turned around, the knife jerking out of the rapists hands. ├óÔé¼┼ôListen├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said tiredly, ├óÔé¼┼ôI don't want to hurt you, so just leave me alone├óÔé¼┬Ø.
The man was gaping at her. Eve yanked the knife out of her back, put it under her foot and snapped it in half. She handed him the handle ├óÔé¼┼ôNow├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôDo something productive with you're life├óÔé¼┬Ø.
She walked to the door, too tired to really feel anything more then annoyance. Then the man screamed, pointing at her. Eve turned around and punched him in the face. He was out like a light. Eve shook her fist, sighing. Then she walked out of the house.
