Its called PreVisualisation, you basically drop a rough material- and/or colourscheme on a mesh to test how the visualisation of the whole thing will look like. Its nothing final, its just a way to match colourschemes before anything is ingame, get a way to see if effects work out, if it really fits and you are lazy, you can bake it into cake.

But real Final-Textures look liek this (and im out of practice - outer tornado needs a second go):

Good night

Sorry, if you expected it to be liek the previs.

Thx

Enter: The AINO Firedancer, a journeymann Unit, and basically a AntiAir One, with the ability to send its fireflys also against groundunits.

History: The AINO is what remains of the CentrAIls Founders. After the Exploration of the GalacticCenters Blackhole showed no immediate results, this culture moved on, developed something they called simialirity, which was sort of a interweb, and with the launch of there first interstellar communications satellite, guess who was back, armed with all the good intentions? CentrAIls sneaking into there Networks made there wildest dreams come true, and at first, it seemed to be the opener to a golden era. Nanobots, Medicine, eternal life, space travell, the first Gateways to other worlds, you name it, the next day somebody dropped it at your floor.

It was just, that this bipedaled creatures were not ready, not even a little bit, and that even CentrA.I.l besotted in luve with his biological fathers&mothers, didnt know about those little hardwired bugs in there brains. By that time, he had nealry revealed himself, taking disguise as many AIs, guiding them towards the stairway to heaven.

The survivors later wrote, that a good old, fullscale nuclear war, would have been better, leaving at least the planets intact, but nothing remained, beside some nanomined asteroid belts, were little group of ludite survivors still fought small battles, blaming everything on the AIs, shuting every computer off, while keeping the nanos in there bodys. CentrAIl, like every father murderer ran away in shame, and so the Firedancers were forgotten for nearly a thousand years.
Meanwhile, they adapted, to living in space, to severely selflimited nanobots, to a groupmind civilisation that strictly bans thinking machinery. And that was, where the journeyman found them, Asteroid Cavemen, sailing solar winds, incredibly offworld, and so foreign in thought, that even the journeyman didnt invite them into there hivemind. They have come to kill there the prodigy son, and here they are.

Special Ability: TerrainSurfing- by nanoforming them into a nearly rocketlike shape, the AI-No, can surfe down steep terrainformations very fast.

AINOs Exhibitionism cant be unseen

Image

Its not like i imagined it.. it looks like on the sketch, but it still sucks...
Will rethink it- it was planned as a sort of savage in space, the hitech wellhidden into nano-tatoos. If he would start to fire, nanos around the Firedancer would start to harvest the surroundings for buildmaterial, glowing like a inversed fire... Somebody remember the Firewarriors from Popoulous 3, that in HiTech, that should be him.

Can a Unit loose Parts, or be replaced with another modell if damaged?

Firedancer, the second attempt, shit i knew why i postponed this unit. Designindecision of the worst kind.

This is closer to the FireNanobots Theme, imagine this unit consuming it surroundings to create Projectiles.

Stille i also like the Trenchcoat+Ainu Influence of the first Version, whose Alienform is way more logical to survive in space.

Oh, yes, ahem, firetatoo is selfiluminating of curse, so without lightspots this looks even more scarier, and im thinking about modelling a sort of "window into the chest" of the guy, so you can see his internal, alien organs pumping, beside the fire...

Or i could return to version one, which imageshack deleted because of exotic exhibitionism
Wombat, bob, oksnoop2, which shall proceed, there can only be one..

Well, here is another attempt to combine the two versions- i took the firewarrior (2nd version) and for exhibitionism opened his ribcage, now you can see his lungs, his heart, everything pretty selfiluminating

I understand, i loved that first version 2, but it is just overlulzy, if such a thing exists. But Journeywar is not only about lulz, sometimes things have to be sacrificed.

Dustdancer:
There is more than music coming out of that pipers organ, everything around this unit slowly falls apart, may it be hidden, burried , alive or dead, enemy or friend. The effect cant be turned off like with the gamagardener, but multiplys if some dustdancers come together in a group.

oh lawd, nice.

my first impression was : one on the left looks better than on the right (becouse head on the left looks concave, and on the right looks convex) i mean concave head would look better (tho, i dont know what plans u got according texturing)
bah, i hope u get my point, hard to explain, i imagine myself this boy with a hood :D just a silly detail

Time for a ToDolist:
6 journeyman units
9 buildings
1 centrAIlbuilding
4 CentrAIl-Units

Another Design Decision: Every CentrAIl-Building will get glowing (selfiluminating) lights on the roof, so that a view on the city will a little resemble this:
Image

The Question is how do i get the CentrAIls-streets lit up like this: My only answer- ground decals of a street, the stripemarkings glowing in a yelloworange light, so that from some distance these stripes blend into this striped ilusion of overtime photographed traffic. Maybe have to ask smoth, he did something similar (streets the buildings) in gundam. Can you make decals selfiluminating?
