There's no way to make it look good with CEGs except on still shots because CEGs can't be attached to a piece (which is a shame). You'll need to use Lua for this and blend in a quad with a blurred rotor texture when the rotor spins.

Oh yes they can! (Or at least, the illusion of this can be created) by giving the CEG a very short lifetime but spawning them very frequently: ie, the CEG lasts a frame, as a new one is spawned every frame, or something to that effect.

Uhm, isn't the gund at the side? Because it shoots at the front. Or is there another waepon placed there?

It appears the weapons on the small wings are rocket pods and some form of guided missile (or a larger rocket). If it is anything like any standard conventional attack helicopter (which it appears to be) then it will have some sort of cannon or machinegun underneath the nose, which would be what is firing in that screenshot.

I know, and it will look like crap when the plane is turning or moving fast.

Will the CEG rotors lag behind the plane? LOL

eh, ask Argh how he managed it then. I was assuming that was how he was doing it...

I'm almost done getting the chopper ready to paint, btw... it's a beautiful lil' monster.

Just for fun:

Rubbish render and no smoothing

BT-76?

PT-76. Light amphibious tank. Still in service in Russian army (and probably elsewhere).

Meshed and smoothed:

Including epically awful snorkel.

Again WIP, no smoothing (apart form the turret obviously, as its a curved NURBS object (the whole thing is NURBS) but I can wrangle a decent mesh out of it)

If you're modelling with Rhino, it's stupid not to use them as they make life so much simpler 90% of the time. :P

Still, wish I could learn poly modelling in Max or something. :(

EDIT:

See what I mean :-)

I am NOT fucking texturing that.

Even if I give it a really easy UVmap for you? x x :(

I'm happy using the OTA 'cube' method for most of my needs. I still rely on nurbs for odd shapes, but I hate rhino's mesh conversion, so I avoid it where possible.

I also wish I learnt max as my first program. I've since got reasonably proficient with it, but my natural way of thinking and controlling is the Rhino style, which clashes with the max style.

Also, Rhino is far more like AutoCAD, which is a helpful crossover for me.

But still, nurbs are smelly.
