When saving+exiting from spring-setup I get this -
Code: Select all
I: Preparing workdir...
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/bin/spring-setup line 697, <I> line 3.
I: Done.
Use of uninitialized value in hash element at /usr/bin/spring-setup line 821.
Use of uninitialized value in quotemeta at /usr/bin/spring-setup line 821.
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/bin/spring-setup line 868.
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/bin/spring-setup line 868.
Then when running spring I get this -
Code: Select all
word@word-desktop:~$ spring
I: workdir is '/home/word/.springdir/localhost:0'
I: type spring-setup to configure spring
spring is using data directory: /home/word/.springdir/localhost:0
Warning: Fatal Error
basic_string::substr
Edit: Nevermind realized I don't have the mods and maps I did before I removed and installed the new versions. That should be an error that it sends "You have left blank options loading defaults" or something.

I implemented the neccessary checks - the next spring-scripts-release will contain them.

Remove the workdir ( or the whole ~/.springdir ) and run spring-setup again.

Is it me or does the mods-custom setting in spring-setup just not work?

Could you describe "not work" a bit closer?
I tested it @home and it worked. If it doesn't work, I'd like to get some more information for being able to fix that bug.

Well, I put in the full path to the folder where I have put my own mods (~/.springdir/localhost.localdomain:0.0/mods-custom), but I can't select them from Spring or Spring Setup.
edit: SCRATCH THAT seems it works when I type in /home/username/ instead of ~/ or $HOME .

Do you mean the ftp-server or some /var/-directory?
Please describe this a bit closer and don't forget to mention the package version.

so the version would be 2.9-1 and the package would be spring-scripts...this occurs when trying to update.

Debspring features a content update concept now. Do an upgrade and use the map- and mod- selection dialogs to choose downloadeable content. Currently there's only one map and one mod available for download.
This makes three ways to provide content to debspring:
1. debian packages
2. an arbitrary local directory
3. by automatic downloading
Please try the new feature to help me improving it.

The ftp-server began it's update cycle 18 minutes ago and there were heavy changes in the directory structure. Everything should be fine in ~ 50 minutes.
BTW: there's already an update (2.9.1-1) of spring-scripts

Seems to work well however if it were a mod such as final frontier would it be added to the installed packages list?

The lilguys-mod is just for testing. My intention is to have all (or most of the) mods/maps available for download.

Well apt-get can't seem to find spring and the files.
Are you sure dapper files are up?

All the content that has been available in packages is available for automatic download via spring-setup now.
Unfortunately, there are two exceptions:
* fortress.z7 - a Map, which I'm not able to understand (neither is my map-metadata-parser

)
* HooverCommander - a mod depending on an older release of Absolute Annihilation. This one will be included again, soon.
All the content is available for manual download, too. It can be found on the debspring ftp-server:
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/people/fbo/ ... ng/content
(Bandwidth is currently "limited" to 500MBit/s due to a router problem)
BTW: 14:40 MST there'll be a upgrade of spring-scripts (-> 2.9.2-1) which fixes some problems that occured on content download.
You might consider removing all map and mod packages:
Code: Select all
apt-get remove spring-mod-* spring-map-pack*
Those packages will be removed from the debspring server eventually in favor of automatic content download.
Please inform me of errors/problems/bugs you encounter.
Have fun

Make sure you got nvidia-glx (for nvidia cards) or fglrx (for ati cards) installed and enabled.
