I like the Sylph best too, although the elemental is huggably adorable. to be frank though, the Gnome needs a makeover, it just doesn't feel like a Gnome.

the Gnome ain't bad, but with textures, all of them will look decent

Apparently Wings3D is the best free 3d modeller, but I wouldn't know from first-hand experience.

Blenders good too. But its kinda hard to use first if your used to something else (its a lot diffrent from the rest of 3d modeling software)

as big a fan of wings that I am... don't just stop there. wings is great for generating meshes(SP?) but that is it. Blender or rhino(both of which i have yet to use) are probably more useful. 3dsmax is HORRIBLE for your old fashion mesh editing but the nurbs are cool then again I am a noob to modeling but I hope I was somewhat informative.

For 3dsmax, thats the exact opposite. Nurbs in max are "horrible" but it has pretty good mesh (poly) editing cababilities.

Its wings3d, as FizWizz said: http://www.wings3d.com. Read this tutorial: http://www.geocities.com/paulthepuzzles/aaBT1s.html to get to grips with it.

http://www.geocities.com/paulthepuzzles/aardvarks.html has lots of useful infomation on wings modelling (including notes on making mechs: http://www.geocities.com/paulthepuzzles ... notes.html).

Sorry to double post, but to model accurately I need profile images or blueprints, anything with a side, top-down and frontal view (x,y,z). Anyone got some?

very few mechs are illustrated at all in profile or blueprint view, and no vehicles or aerotech are that I am aware of. In fact, I believe it is only clan mechs that were first introduced to Battletech that were drawn so. You can find profile views of clans mechs on this page, In the clan section of this website, and probably other places.

Besides the models, nothing really new. I've lost alot of computer time to house renovations :| . But hopefully those should be done by the end of next week, after the new flooring goes in. I hope, it could get pushed back again if we keep hitting new things that need fixing.

While we really wanna see something, anything, because we rely on your good will instead of getting off our own arses we can't really complain can we?
I have done some uni programming but I don't know the first thing about making a mod.
Hope your house comes together well.
