Cabbage has successfully used this tactic in games I am in for three successive releases of AA, I can attest to the efficacy of it. I can also attest to my own feelings of frustration when nobody else on my team builds sufficent anti-air or builds up an airforce.

I am tempted to drop a few clues and see if you can puzzle my lobby identity out. I revealed it on this forum not long ago.

I know who he is now!
But anyway...air drops are made of win, theres no debating it....
I've used them on altored
I've used them on comet
I've used them on xanthe
I've used them on SSB
I've used them on metalheck
I've used them on CenterRock
I've used them on ParchedMesa
I've used them on Canyon Redux
I've used them on Crossing 4
I've used them on Moon Quartet
I've used them on any map i've played. They work, They win games, They end comm ends games extremely effectively.
They are cheap, they can be used repeatedly (even packos wont rape them in time if you make enough)
More to the point it takes enemy a LONG time to completely cover all routes which atlas can take - fly some fink planes over the map and find where there is no anti air, any small gap with no coverage is perfect for the atlases to go through, around and into the base of enemy.
And even if you cant drop directly in his base, you can get much closer without resistance than you would just sending units by ground, and much quicker.

DemO has a good point, you gotta scout before you try to drop. You don't just fly in there and hope your opponent has no AA.

You should scout before doing anything, really. Except, of course, for scouting.
Players who can't or don't want to scout generally resort to porcing.
Just a side note.

And if you're on my team and waste 20 brawlers because of not scouting, you earn a special kind of wrath...

noob, tbh. always scout before scouting. always.

Scouting occurs before the game begins. Pick your opponents, utilize telepathy to read their thoughts, and track their IP addresses.
This is why the Ghosts from Starcraft have always had more potential in game than any of the real people on Battlenet.

air transports are very good now, drops works very well. Just yesterday caba droped 10 wariors at back of our bases and allmost killed one guys econ. I was only lucky i had some reapers near to help when next drop arrived.
actually i like current weasel balance as core is usefull. Without op weasel games would be 90% arm imho.

I don't think it'll be that bad, if tanks and aa just got sorted a bit rapiers would be better than brawlers and raiders better than stumpies.

ofc they need to be nerfed, but i am pointing out that without some other buff core will be useless. I would improve cores veh a bit (or reduce lvl2 vh plan cost) ..

oh and dont forget the utter uselessness of t1 kbots on virtually any map

It's not as much as K-bots are useless as vechiles are much much more usefull..
balance vechiles after k-bots, not k-bots after vechs! :O

I've successfully stopped several weasel spammers. It takes some doing but it's entirely possible on most maps that aren't cometcatcher.
That being said, they could definitely due with a nerf so they are less commanding then current.

The simple fact is it takes more resources and much more risk to stop weasel spammers by other means than simply spam them yourself.
Any gap left open and the weasels go straight through, and in team games, you cant cover all gaps for your teammates in most situations, so weasels end up in your back base in mass, and theres not much you can do.
Static defences by nature dont move, weasels move, and very fast, giving them a massive advantage from the offset. (considering other units besides weasels are cost for cost less effective against them) The person who doesnt use weasels has to try and cover all routes the weasels can take to be completely safe, which costs a lot of time and resources on any map without chokepoints.
So the only cost and time effective counter is spam them yourself. Despite this, i still wont spam them. I dont like what they do to gameplay.

You also need to count in unit cost.
