There are many things in the old testament (pre-christianity) that are not christian values. There are plenty of accounts of christians being punished in the new testament (whether stoned, thrown to the lions or hung on a cross).

Definitely. It seems background, culture and upbringing play a huge part in how somebody thinks and develops.
As for homosexuality, as I said, people can do what they want in privacy of their own homes. However, I also believe religions should be respected to a certain extent, even if people don't believe them. Religion has history dating to the beginning of life and people have fought wars, formed cultures and based their lives upon religion and to just ignore it and think of these people as idiots would be dishonour to a very high regard.
As I said, I don't believe homosexuality should be taught to be correct and perfectly natural in schools. I don't believe gay marriages should take place in a church or if I had my own way, not at all but I'm sure too many people would disagree with that for anything to happen.
And last but not least, homosexuality should not be promoted, it should just be left alone and people can be gay if they want but as I consider homosexuality to be wrong, I wouldn't condone it in any way possible.

Proud doesn't really have any relevance to it. It's like being proud of being able to stand up, doesn't really play a part. And it's not a fear of homosexuals as phobia usually means.
Also, I don't dislike those people any more than I would if they weren't homosexuals. I just think homosexuality is wrong. That doesn't change my personal attitude towards them. Although, high pitched, woman dressing, unmasculine gays annoy me.

Sex that is specifically not for the purpose of procreation (making babies) is just 2 people pleasuring each other. I think you'll find adultery and sex out of wedlock in general to be 'sins' just as much as homosexuality. Porn, the sex industry, simply the word 'sexy'.. do you hate all this as you hate homosexuality?

Thats a very poor analogy, because I am proud of being able to stand up. Could you answer the question? Are you proud of being against homosexuality?

Stop accusing me of hate already. I find a lot of things to be sins. This was supposed to be a political thread. Therefore I was discussing homosexuality in politics. Adultery isn't a public happening, it's a private thing which people choose to do alone (I hope). As I said, what people do in their own home is up to them but it starts effecting other people, that's where politics comes in and is also where I'm against it.
If I was a father I wouldn't want my child exposed to this kinda stuff.

I would have thought adultery (broken marriages.. I can think of plenty of friends that this has affected) affected other people more than homosexuality (erm.. whats the problem exactly, gay parades?).

But it's a choice. How can you not be proud of a choice you make. Even if only slightly, there must be some emotion behind the decision.
I wake up in the morning quite happy that i'm not racist or homophobic, so what about you?

hey jaz you're a fucking horrible person. you want gay and bisexual people, and those with other sexualities, to live in fear and hiding all their lives just to satisfy your own pathetic sense of "eww!". imagine if you were gay or bisexual or whatever; can you imagine what life would be like under your preferred regime? i mean i realise this is actually impossible for you because conservatives have no empathy, but at least try. maybe try it with pretending to be an immigrant or asylum seeker too!
ps fuck you.

You are the one spreading hate. Don't assign to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.

stupidity isn't an excuse for being a horrible person
i'm not spreading hate, when i say "fuck you" i mean "your views hurt people's lives, this is a bad thing, please reconsider"

Pride isn't the right word at all. And in fact, pride is actually described as a sin in the Bible and I can understand why.
Some definitions for pride:
a feeling of self-respect and personal worth
satisfaction with your (or another's) achievements; "he takes pride in his son's success"
unreasonable and inordinate self-esteem (personified as one of the deadly sins)

There is an emotion behind the decision. But it's certainly not pride.

I'm pretty sure you wake up without thinking about those things at all.
If you disagree, I wake up in the morning quite happy I'm not dead, happy I haven't been stabbed in the face with a pencil, happy my computer is still there.
