If it's in 688 Quads, than it's too much for the competition. I think the Quad limit is 510.

If you look at his pics, you will clearly see that it's triangulated.

It is 656 polygons, not sure about triangles, never work with them, I only make models in quads.?

All the same its kinda nice to be able to look at a model with a nice interface like wings/rhino/3ds max rather than 3DO builder.
Also just because a madel is shown triangulated it doesnt mean that the count was done in tris as you could count the polies before you triangulated.
Meh, its no biggie but yea in my opinion .wings or .obj is the best file format for these competitions.

Inspired a little by Halo's master chief and partly by power armors from other things I present my unfinished biped I made today.
1004 tris. I reckon I can make it a little lower than that with a little more effort.
I will upload the files in .wings and .obj format in a little while but for now heres some pics:

If by Inspired by, you mean "exactly the same as", then its very very good.
Its real good, actually, much better then my abortive atempt at making an infantry man. And I mean aborted in the worst possible way.

Have a look at a few Master Chief pictures, the main similarities are the dual guns and the helmet..... sort of, but its actually a very common design. The master Chief was based off starship troopers which were based off the troops in "aliens".
Since that post though I have made some changes, it now looks even more like the master chief........ Anyhow its not hard to change what a biped looks like really.
If someone wants me to make it look different I can quite happily do that. Just remove the guns and edit the helmet.........
For now I am making it fit the human form a little better. And I am going to change the feet a fair bit, they waste alot of hidden polys.....

^ imo, yours is the best entry so far. Good job.
The shoulders could be a little rounder though, considering the polys invested.

Yes, it's a very nice and high quality model. It just seems a bit unoriginal though. There are already tons of models every were that look like Halo's MC.

Your right wolf about the shoulders though, I will have a play with them tomorrow.
Your Also right Shogoll it is kinda unoriginal but I will slowly put small twists on it, the body and legs are very defferent to the MC's. In my defense though

Its just a very generic look though, I mean look at starship troopers and movies like it.....

Looks quite a bit less like the MC to me. Looks more of an HEV Suit/Spartan Armor to me now.
For 976 tris, that's bloody amazing modelling.

Damn nice and its kinda hard to have an "original" power armored human since its been done so much (Starship Troopers, Halo, Aliens, HL/2, 40k, etc...)

either that or my wings is screwing up majorly counting faces... Which I doubt. Here is the file, 992 tris after I gave it a detached pelvis. And to awnser rattles question it took about 3 hours total to make.
Oh and its not UV mapped properly, I just wanted to see what it looked like with plain green skin.

Feet still look ugly and there is a slight gap between the pelvis and torso in that version...... Frick I post the file and notice all the things wrong with this version...theres also a difference in the size of the thighs, not sure how that happened.....
