I am aware of the problem, have been for a while, sadly, I haven't the time to fix it.

An issue with the theme and a broken update has lead to me switching to a temporary theme. It's pretty and has some known flaws I'm not happy about, as I said the situation is temporary

With the new things is it possible to simply link to a post in spring forum?
For example like this if I wanted this to show up in news:

Everyone wants to live in smurf city

Just have it show like that in news. Excactly like that.
When you click it, it goes to that post/thread/url. Just go to url as if you click the above link.

I tried to submit news with this link:
http://www.springinfo.info/submit/new-post/
gave this error:
http://abload.de/img/bla2usin.png
I tried the url in various ways..with and without www, http:// etc
Maybe if is only meant to accept the top-url like "springrts.com" and what I tried is not really possible. But if you want certain posts in random WIP (or other similiar threads) to be more visible, then such feature is needed.

Ah that sucks, I'll change it from a URL field to a standard single liner

And yes, the main obstacle so far is I don't have feeds for forum posts, and if I did I'd still need manual sorting for content and "omg yes thats amazing" replies.

edit: should be fixed

No, not manual sorting forum content. Just manual adding.
An option to say "This is an interessting thread. I will paste its url into this thing and then it appears in news."
In theory some troll could just post lots of crap but if that happens can still add requirement of account or manual approving.

For this it would also be good to have other options in the Games-dropdown menu: "General modding" and "Unnamed projects"
(There is category="Development" but it still requires to select a game.)

What should go in "Post body" for such just-link-to-url posts? The url again? It has *required star.

The post content is normally shown underneath the title/image header and generates the excerpts. Its also used in the search facility, so a copy paste of the text in the post being linked to would be best

My main issue at the moment with the form is that someone then needs to approve it so I dont have trolling and spam.

hmmm, investigating

In the meantime, I've attempted to contact JJ about his RSS feed, as the results are a tad... underwhelming. The images are tiny, no large thumbnail defined via the RSS standard, no paragraph tags in text, and arbitrary custom div markup included to space out images that gets stripped out by most RSS readers ( who wouldn't know how to style it anyway )

Somehow this is supposed to serve as a half decent thumbnail:

The large size should be available at least

SpringFiles items are now pulled into the pending review queue, despite opinions on the frontpage, the quality of the RSS feed means springinfo site itself is looking awful with the tiny tiny images and the lack of formatting, and terrible markup.

I'm also waiting on proper fixes to my macbook so I can upgrade the automation to a newer version without causing duplication. Once that's done I have several feeds to add from youtube, including the evo channel, knorkes playlists, and some others

I've added a significant upgrade to the theme springinfo uses, it should now be fully responsive, with a slide out menu to the left. Styling should generally be improved, and a number of other features are available, including a read next section and a quick post tool for logged in users.

I'd also like to again reiterate that people should sign up, even if they never intend to login, else everything they do gets attributed to myself. Apparently I'm extremely active in the community, my output is greater than everyone elses combined.

I'd be happy to provide a little piece of info & a link per BA/BA:R release, etc (not frequent, once every 3-6 weeks). In general I'd also always felt the news feed was kind of random but never read the arguments over it before so didn't realize you'd actually asked for help :p

Presumably you want me to make an account and use that to post from?

That'd be brilliant, if you can PM me the details you'd like, a username+email I can set you up with one

Someone submitted a BAR release post but I havent been able to log in and approve it yet, probably yourself
