These are really good models. I like the approach you've taken with the wind generator, the OTA models look too bulky considering their HP.

Isn't that one of the points of CA?
Nope, because what're the few concept sketches for then

there should just be a mod with concepts by me, it'd be like BA with better models with a vengeance!

though I'm said to be biased

Hi :=)

Not a lot of works today... (I've reinstalled quake 3 xD...)
Just unwraping and tweaking the wind generator. I think it's looking good :)
As Crayfish said, it's a bit different from the original design which I don't like huhu ^^

Wind generator : 170 polys

I'll try to work more tomorow =D

the windgen has to at least be tall enough to make it so that the blades dont hit the ground ;)

Here's the texture and unit files for the Arm Energy Storage. I also went ahead and included the Wings, PSD, texture source files, and a buildpic while I was at it. Small improvements over one in previous screen (IE: bloom as Warlord Zsinj suggested).

grblrlb I'm late !

Ok, first try of the AA... I don't like the original design so it's different !
I like the way I managed that one. What do you think ?

About 270 polys :

I'll wait for your comments, cause if nobody likes I'll tweak it huhu :)
Else i'll start uvs and the HLT model :-)

It's nice, but I think it needs the height for it to be a tower. Height gives it other useful features, like sticking it behind walls or natural barriers.

yes t needs to be able to look up at a 90 degrees angle..and needs ot be high so it can shoot in danse bases.

do you even look at the pictures before you post Gota?

that turret can quite clearly shoot directly upwards :|

I guess im just too tired atm.
It is low though.

Lovely designs, though you could use more polys. ;)

On the defender- make sure that its angle of fire, its height, and size at its base is the same or similiar. If you give it a lower profile it cant shoot over obstacles, and if you make its base larger it cant fit in the same places.

Though CA is flexible on that, having different profiles/angles of fire is a good way to differentiate turrets.

Isn't that one of the points of CA? No need to cloud the *A with more.
No, CA is a totally new project with a whole host of different design goals from BA- unit and faction diversity, larger range of more viable units etc.

Looks good, but indeed needs to be a taller unit.

Absolutely a must have for AA units, so that they can have a clear line of sight above any nearby buildings and structures.

It looks cool, but I think it looks a bit heavy with the giant base, since other have already said it needs to be a bit higher you could also make the base a bit slimmer.

That wind generator is really nice! hope to see this one included in CA asap.

About the missile tower: how about making it "open/close" when shooting, lifting the launcher part up with a lever. That way it could have a shielded "packed up" look when idle and still launch over normal buildings.

I love the defender model you posted, but it looks more like an anti-swarm turret. I should keep that model around even if you change it for the defender role!

While I can't speak for other mods, the mod most likely to incorporate these models in the near future is CA.

In CA, the defender fires salvos of three weak but quite long ranged missiles targeting both ground and air (i.e. 1.. 2.. 3.. then a long pause to the next salvo). One major use is to outrange LLTs and some other fixed defenses. They are very fragile with few hit points.

Just thought that might be handy to know when considering the model design. Something taller and fairly fragile, maybe with some visual cue to the 3-missile salvo weapon would be ideal.

yeah, the large base isn't really needed for this type of unit.

From a realism standpoint, rockets create no recoil forces when they're fired, so a large and wide heavy base might not be so necessary, as its not likely to fall over unless it gets hit by something huge.

Its good work regardless, keep it up.
