BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
On Discord there is a lot of talk about contacting Chris Taylor and businesses like WarGaming for BA10 self promotion purposes. Just for the sake of trying to legitimize a version which isn't fully accepted by the community.
This doesn't help solve the issues being discussed on the forum and might actually jeopardize the future of Spring and BA. I suggest making an attempt to solve the problems at hand rather than clutching at straws to drag as many people onto your side as possible with disregard for existing player-base.

Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
BA is in a position to shrug off stolen, copyrighted content. If that happens, for the first time, it would be legitimate in the eyes of many people.
Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
The only people who would take this risk care more about self promotion and the chance of kick starting their own career by launching a hijacked mod on steam for personal gain, than the actual legacy of the mod they inherited.
Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
If anyone there gave a flying fuck about BA, it's more likely we would see C&Ds than anything beneficial for BA/Spring.
Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
He's been doing an rts for mobile or something, and has probably been recurrently asked about making a TA-like game, so he probably already knows about BA and springrts games in general.
The currently played versions have some embarrassingly bad models and animations (many off sync with the units movement speeds), it would need serious remodelling (using BAR models) and polishing.
The greatest asset the BA community has is the few dozen players that cling to it and play with each other, and the BA community didn't even get the latest BA version fully accepted, which apparently is due to:
1- a few stubborn individuals which will only play 9.46 and try to keep the 9.46 rooms going
2- a few dozen apathetic individuals which show no preference for the latest 10.x and will happily join 9.46 room if it has more players
The net result of 1 and 2 is them undermining their own game...

There's not just the problem of being tied to OTA content, there's the problem of who owns what. BA devs changed over time, and the current ones are not the ones who did most of the work for BAR models. How would that play out on the long run?The only people who would take this risk care more about self promotion and the chance of kick starting their own career by launching a hijacked mod on steam for personal gain, than the actual legacy of the mod they inherited.

Way to dismiss the entire community as "a few stubborn individuals," You miss the whole point is BA10 undermining BA. Actions like this make it clear the maintainers would rather take a burnt earth policy than be proved wrong.

In copyright law, if a company does not sue to protect their IP, they very well may lose that IP. When you're small, they can ignore you and pretend that you never popped up on their radar. Once you screw up and go big time, they are forced to act.
https://www.varnumlaw.com/newsroom-publ ... -losing-it
A perfect example of this is ElDorito and Halo Online. Microsoft said specifically that they really liked the project and used the softest language possible in their C&D, but that they must protect the halo IP, or they could lose it.

Forb you gave Flow the botflag idea and look how that ended, you had a say in this one too? Lets not repeat the mistakes of the past.

What in the actual fuck are you talking about and how is it relevant in any way to the discussion at hand?
Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
Botflag is just one part of a tapestry of evidence that proves your role in harming BA - and this thread is about avoiding.

I can sorta understand why Forb is losing his patience with this.
With all his flaws I haven't seen him actually trying to harm BA. Maybe he did some work you guys don't like, but it seemed well intentioned.
I think it might be best to fork BA into something you might like more.

That commit was labeled specifically to trigger people such as yourself. Get jebaited.
Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
Yes, just one of your many ill-intentioned acts of deliberate harm towards BA players.
This is another specific example of a change you made that the community doesn't like.
Thats why BA's timeline is currently indefinitely frozen exactly at the moment where Forboding Angel got involved: 9.46.

So a commit message is enough to trigger you?ill-intentioned acts of deliberate harm towards BA players
Hold my beer...
Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
No one cares about the message, the contents of consecutive commits is the problem. Please undo all of your changes.

Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
It seems that you have a severe case of chugondeze. You should get that looked at.
Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor
"A lot" It was brought up in a single conversation. But that's the minor piece here; I'm very sure the discussion was focused about making BA more legitimately legal, which would be a good thing for everyone. Even if it only had a minor impact outside legality.
Also be aware that consensus has not been reached and certain persons who must give their support for this to go ahead are currently reserving their support.
Be aware that as many players refuse to play 9.46 as those who refuse to play the latest.
CT knows about BA and has said he likes what the project is doing.
Oh puh-lease, they're not that bad. They may be visually unappealing to you, but there is way worse out there. Animations have been an issue and are being gradually fixed tho.
There are two groups of stubborn individuals: those who feel that BA 10 and its supporters actions are undermining BA and those who feel that BA 9.46 and its supporters' actions are undermining BA. Go figure.
Yeah, that triggering isn't helping. Please, stop.Forboding Angel wrote: ↑30 Nov 2018, 00:48 That commit was labeled specifically to trigger people such as yourself. Get jebaited.
Please justify why they're bad first, because Forb has spent more time in BA game development and he wouldn't do something that destroys things. Or if he did, Flow wouldn't let him and would bring attention to it because Flow cares about BA 10, and as you can see wants it to succeed in spite of all adversity. So. Do you really think he'd let Forb destroy it. Be rational now, please.
Why did I do this – this conversation wasn't going anywhere anyway. Oh well.
