[website] server upgraded to ubuntu 16.04

Post by abma »

today the springrts.com server was upgraded to ubuntu 16.04.

Uberserver, the buildbot master, the rapid repo had some problems after the upgrade which should be solved now.

as upstart was replaced with systemd the server needs to rebooted, too. The date for reboot is not set, but will be soon: this will lead to a short downtime which will be announced when its known.

Don't you know that all the cool bros now do the hipsterix distro? It even surpassed the formerly cool distro Asterix, Obelix and travellix circusix.

We may be having an issue with the evo test builds. The latest commit on git is #2419 but the latest that the spring server seems to have is 2416.

Its automatic kernel updates eventually fill out the huge 1GB /boot, then proceed to fill out / until there is no more space. After which one cannot remove them with apt as it wants to install stuff during the removal phase, which again fails due to no space.

"apt autoremove" is your friend.

migration to debian is basically planned but a lot of work.

It is not your friend when it wants to install further packages before removing anything.

Are you sure about the OS version? I mean any server change at this point should obviously be to 18.04.

I suspect the cron job for the buildbot to discover new commits is also gone.
