Life ban

Post by FrogNuker »

Hi Admins,

We have a 'player' in the community that deserves a life ban.
For more than 1 year, completely ruining games, He will self D in an allies base, killing the game for everyone.
He does this in small to large games. 2-16 player, regardless.
He does this repeatedly, against any allied player.

It is consistent and never ending.

Banning from server, is impossible.

He uses VPN's and untold multiple name accounts to avoid any level of removal.
If we kick him he rejoins and rejoins under different name accounts.

By any measure, he is a ritual abuser of the game community. A blight.

I wish to ask the account admins to step in and correct something that has gone on for way too long.
This will continue ad infinitum unless we get rid of it.

Account creation needs to be improved.
At present anyone can create untold accounts.

Can the account admins step in please ?

At the minimum, can we delete all of his accounts in total ?

Looking for a resolve on this, it's really hurting the game and the community.

Much thanks to you,

FrogNuker.

It is in reference to the same player in this thread, however it it more than an autohost issue, to rid us of this ritual abuser.

Can you provide some of his known accounts and/or replay links with abuse evidences ?

VPN access could be denied at autohost level.

After months away, I come back today to see what's happening.
Sure enough, the games he was in,

http://replays.springrts.com/replay/25d ... 33234fa55/
9 mins : blows up allie base

http://replays.springrts.com/replay/bbc ... 4de152eb6/
12 mins : Self D his own base.

The auto host admins are very aware of this but have been unable to stem it.
If you need confirmation from them, I can look to get them to chime in.

The ability to BLOCK vpn would be a god send and could effectively fix this issue !

Cheers,

It seems the player you are speaking about in this topic is Pupazzo/Culosburro/Trollmando/...
Afaik, he's not trying to hide his identity in the 2 replays you linked (not using a VPN).

There already exists some advanced ban system in SPADS/SLDB which allows autohost admins to benefit from SLDB smurf detection and ban quite efficiently. If any autohost admin needs info about this functionality he can contact me.

Also, I will try to add VPN detection functionality in SPADS/SLDB when I have some time, so autohost admins can chose to deny VPNs.

What makes you think it is the same person? (afaik it's not).

Are you sure FrogNuker that you are not confusing regular BA gameplay with this vague eidos of "trolling"?

It's definitely the same person. He has multiple accounts.

When he is kicked or banned he simply rejoins under another of his unlimited account names immediately.
With all the ensuing verbiage. So there is no doubt.

I do know admins have tried to ban on IP.

He definitely uses VPN.
He creates new accounts at whim.

We end up kicking and locking so he cant rejoin.

Since he effectively works around all this, people get used to and live with the abuse.
As its too much to be fighting a losing battle.

Hence why I began this thread. This needs to be resolved somehow.
He's been doing this for more than a year.

Are you able to post the info regards SLDB smurf detection so all can benefit ?
I recently figured out spads, and I expect to have it up full time soon.

I think Admins will look forward to the deny VPN feature also.

:)

Much thanks,

Frognuker.

It is not the same person as the other thread you linked too.

Your apparent wish to link all undesirable events to a unique cause, with no supporting evidence, is misplaced.

These are not the same facts committed by the same people, I confirm SilentWings.
I got screwed too.

However, the user that got (+100 now ?) accounts still exists and is NOT the one one that use vote exploit.
Look : http://ace.springrts.fr/Forum/viewtopic ... 4&p=43#p43

Some work should be done *maybe* regards to new account creation and/or VPN-Proxies issues....
I know this is a lot of job...

That is all you have to say to a guy coming here to complain about a well-known troll that is bothering the community for years while ban doging and being ignored by the mods?
Pretty sad...

Dealing with someone like this is a time-consuming and unpleasant game of whack-a-mole that lasts as long as the instigator wants it to. There is no good solution.

I know it's the same person, because its the same behavior and it happened to me also, the same.

Same account type (an account numbered 1-6) used to force ban someone.
It occurred on the ace server and is logged on their forums as it was reported.

There's only 1 troll that's doing this. No one else exhibits this behavior in the whole community.
Just one person.

Daily.

Everyday.

Constantly.

Non stop.

Ruining games for the community.

VPN spads detection would kill the issue, as they would be forced to use 1 IP, which would then simply be banned.

Cheers,

Frognuker.

More proof of the abusive behavior.
Please note one of his untold names in this replay.

[LIFEBAN]mando

He really cares less what people think and he is laughing his ass off at all of us, including you.
I say again, please delete all his known accounts. We can do this at a minimum to have positive impact.

http://replays.springrts.com/replay/8aa ... d4797cebf/

15 mins: he blows up my base.
26 Mins he admits to trolling Cartouche in another game.
28.30 again admits sldb caught him.
30 mins onward he starts nuking all the allies.

I totally agree with Frognuker.
Trolls like Adolf should be instabanned for kicking and muting innocent players!
Sensitive people like me are hardly affected by such kind of behaviours...

I obviously know he has multiple accounts (like the majority of regular players btw).
I'm just saying the player we spoke about in this topic (DeathStar/SuperNoob ...) is not the same as the one you are speaking about here (Pupazzo/Culosburro/Trollmando ...). And as long as the only "evidence" for your claim is that they share "similar" behavior, it won't change my opinion.

Note that I'm not saying Pupazzo/Culosburro/Trollmando didn't behave similarly multiple times, I'm just saying that the player in the other thread is not him.

Creating multiple accounts using VPNs for trolling is very easy. Lots of different players do / have done that unfortunately.
FrogNuker wrote:Are you able to post the info regards SLDB smurf detection so all can benefit ?
I recently figured out spads, and I expect to have it up full time soon.
Basically at SPADS' side you just need to give sufficient rights to the bot named "SLDB" to execute the !kickBan command (add an entry in the users.conf configuration file).

Then at SLDB side, there are 2 commands to manage and apply ban lists:
"!banList" is used to create, delete, and edit ban lists at SLDB level.
"!setBanList" is used to apply these ban lists to autohosts.
But currently these commands can only be used by SLDB operators, so you need to ask them to configure the banlist for your hosts.

Code: Select all

<bibim_> !help banList
<SLDB> ********** Help for command banList **********
<SLDB> Syntax:
<SLDB> !banList [<banListName> create|delete|add|remove [<userName>|#<userId>]] - lists and edit ban lists
<SLDB> Example(s):
<SLDB> "!banList" lists all ban lists
<SLDB> "!banList myList" lists the users banned by the ban list "myList"
<SLDB> "!banList myList create" creates a new ban list named "myList"
<SLDB> "!banList myList delete" deletes the ban list named "myList"
<SLDB> "!banList myList add badUser" adds the user "badUser" in the ban list "myList"
<SLDB> "!banList myList remove #5678" removes the user identified by the user ID "5678" from the ban list "myList"

<bibim_> !help setBanList
<SLDB> ********** Help for command setBanList **********
<SLDB> Syntax:
<SLDB> !setBanList [<hostName>|#<hostAccountId> [<listName>]] - configures the ban list associated with a host
<SLDB> Example(s):
<SLDB> "!setBanList" lists all hosts configured to use SLDB ban system
<SLDB> "!setBanList host1" disables SLDB ban system for the host named "host1"
<SLDB> "!setBanList #7890 myList" configures the host identified by the accountId 7890 to use the ban list named "myList"

Frankly the lack of appropriate moderation on the spring server for the last decade is utterly shameful. Before autohosts were a thing we had simple ways of dealing with this because one person actually was the host.

With the era of autohosts and voting, trolling became infinitely easier. Multiple calls to the lobby devs to implement email verification into the login system has repeatedly been struck down.

For some reason people seem to think that by allowing people not to make real accounts, you somehow gain more people than you lose. We have 10 years of data that says the opposite.

It is clear that the lobby moderators simply down have the time and tools it would take to deal with this behavior.

Once again I contend that is is utterly shameful that more has not been done about this to quell such behavior. It reflects very badly upon our community and in turn, us as individuals.
