Ironic mod hijacking (split)

The true fact of the matter is that all the *A stuff should be banned due to IP Infringement. I wouldn't use arguments based around "stealing" or "copyright" if I were you.

I want to make sure a few things about policies for SpringRTS are clear with the caveat that IANAL:
1. We do not promote any kind of IP or copyright infringement, and I think it would be best if most games moved away from TA models and IP.
2. Even if you suspect that a project is breaking a license or stealing content, it does not absolve you of doing the same thing to that project. Two wrongs don't make a right.
3. Not all project licenses/copyrights are treated in the same way. We're not an institution of law and we have to realize the history of SpringRTS. A lot of games were based on TA (Total Annihilation) and we're generally ignoring license issues with regards to Cavedog (TA) IP, at least until we get a legal request (which might not be possible anymore). We will however act very fast to any infringements of the SpringRTS's license as well as the license/IP of any other project that's made by this community.
4. Be sure to separate license infringements (e.g. Spring MT) from "mod hijacking" or any other legally-acceptable case of making derivative work.

On another note, password protecting your game archives isn't going to work. Spring needs to be able to load(extract) it to run it. Even if you succeed in making it, you would need to provide widgets and gadgets under a GPLv2 compatible license and you'd likely run into breaking the SpringRTS (or particular widget/gadget) license yourself.

TA mod 60% units are stolen from BA
25% Units stolen from Unit universe

Devastator, Broadside, OPS Center, t3 t2 engineer cruisers cons even the names are stolen from Final Frontier

Tabitha and influence stolen from NOTA.

so your
Because it's in clear violation of the guildlines layed out here.viewtopic.php?f=91&t=34326

Cant be right, unless is a completely renewed mod from complete scratch.
What are you on about senna your argument makes zero sense, but while we are talking about stolen models after taking the mod over from you i noticed that some of the models you added are more TA:Escalation which were used without there consent, i did contact them and it as agreed that i can use the model as long as i add a link to there site, its on every download page from techa on springfiles.
I made this mod and i know where the units came from, from TA Escalation is only TLL side.

As i said, there are units from BA, NOTA, FINAL FRONTIER, TA Escalation, etc... 99% units came from Unit Universe

The origin of TechAs units, whilst interesting trivia, is entirely irrelevant to the discussion; https://springrts.com/wiki/Felony#11

TechA has clear and reasonable guidelines on making mutators - please follow them.

Apparently you don't:

Where do you think the unit's in *A were ripped from? How about ALL the sounds? What about 99.9% of the textures? How about 99.9% of the scripts?

Allow me to direct you to the game that you are directly ripping off and infringing copyright egregiously: http://store.steampowered.com/app/298030/

Spring mods based on Total Annhilation files, so shocking and so new.
If TA-content is so bad and so illegal, then how does it work to distribute it via evolutionrts lobby on steam?

Many positive reviews are positive only because of the access to pirated content.

Imo the order of importance of licenses is, from strong to weak:
1) things from living un-free sources (for eg. bringing Starcraft II files into spring might be bad idea)
2) things created in spring community (should ask/give credit)
3) things created by other open source places (for ex soundfile-sharing sites or texture-sharing sites or tauniverse. respect licenses, give credit)
4) things of very old un-free Total Annhilation game (technically not right, but the past years make think nobody cares)
(kinda wrong to rank licenses like that, but seemed to alway have worked okay)

Are you taking pot shots at evo again? This isn't about him, this is about Tech Annihilation.
