If anyone here frequents the ZK servers you've likely seen the regular sunday invites to play, if not Istrolid is a pretty cool RTS about building and designing spaceships. It draws inspiration from LEGO and games like Zero-K, Kerbal Space Program, and Captain Forever. It's a collaborative project between Saktoth of Zero-K and treeform.

Thank you for the votes that got this Greenlit.

Now on Steam! http://store.steampowered.com/app/449140/

Your website crashed my Firefox thrice in a couple minute. :-(

You hurt my eye by misspelling Challenge!

I thought I could control my little ship, but then it appears the gameplay is more akin to Gratuitous Space Battle?
I found the right click. It's a regular RTS, about securing resources and building new units in the middle of the battle. With ofc the twist of designing your own units from blocks.

Game runs better with Chome. Firefox can be unstable depending on user environment.

IME "firefox might not work" is actually "firefox only proceeds past loading if you sacrifice a goat on the full moon, and then fails anyway".

Chrome is mandatory; Steam distribution should ship kiosk-mode Chrome.

Thought it was going to be dumb. Was very happily surprised. This is my new favorite time waster game. I love how in the campaign it leads you by the hand and by the time you start seeing some real challenges you actually have a fleet of ships to build that are different in function and design.

Shut up and take my money!

This game is brilliant. It only has one flaw. The same flaw spring has.

Godde in every server.

I really want to be able to pan with the cursor, but you should look into Electron as a wrapper for distribution, it's the same thing used by Slack and WordPress to package their UIs up for Windows/OS X/Linux

You can pan with middle mouse button, and electron is already what treeform uses for win/mac builds.

Thanks for the video! I know Saktoth and treeform really appreciate campaign feedback, a lot of people are choosing to jump straight into design and multiplayer, or just feel too restricted by the locked parts in campaign like me.\

Just so we're clear though, it will be releasing free-to-play on steam.

One question remains though? Why are you all playing the 2d version?

If I had to level one criticism at the game I would say:

The game seems to favor capital "do everything" ships over smaller Fighter or Bomber style ships. The exception would be large ships that support one another. This is a cool aspect, but I'd really like to see more emphasis on all types of ships, not just the biggest and baddest.

Its the controlls.. they are insufficient for controlling large amounts of fast units.. you run out of the ressource player reaction time..

Clearly, we need to do an 1v1.

1v1 isn't nearly as interesting as 3v3 imo. This is literally a game where more players on each team = more interesting because at that point there are so many varieties of ships.

Even then, unless in a macabre mood that involves deployment of plasma and tesla Cubes, i tend to use fighters a lot in teams.

Ah, yes thats cubex - if he really likes something, he takes money and hires some contracts (Killers) to make it go away.
This is why we cant have nice things with longterm survival.
I will miss Sakoth.
