Forum Design Changes

Post by Forboding Angel »

Ok, so I'm not done yet, but I'm working on the "material design" type things for the forum.

Lets be clear, it isn't material design. Without rewriting the entire theme from scratch I'm not even sure if true material design is even possible, and frankly, it would drive me nuts trying to make it happen.

This is a WIP. I intentionally showed the usercp screen so that it's obvious that I haven't gotten to that section of it yet.

The buttons are losing the super roundness and the shadows, and the colors are in line with the spring logo. They are dimmed a bit until you hover over them, but all the colors used were taken from the official spring logo.

Here is the work so far:

Looks good to me.

Have you tried this out on a phone browser yet?

The new design is wider than the main layout, draw a line starting in the top left corner of the spring logo in the header going straight down and see how many elements are almost but not quite there, then repeat with the top right edge of the download link on the other side

It isn't wider, I simply removed the outside paddings cause they were pointless. Now that I've done that it would make sense to remove the paddings from the header bar too. Good call.

That'd mean changing every other part of the site, the mediawiki theme, the frontpage, the PHP standalone pages, and there'd still be alignment issues in the forum design since it isn't internally consistent

Fixed the margins. You were correct, I hadn't considered that.

Looks awesome. Should be the default phpbb theme. Still not big on the tiny padding of the logo container though, it's the opposite of what a 'material'y theme should promote.

I think I did in my trial runs. I must have forgotten to do that when I committed it.
