I also miss quotes.springlobby.info. Some friends and I were actually discussing a thing recently, and I remembered a relevant springquote which I then tried to explain. Imagine my feelings of shock and embarrassment when the site wouldn't load! :o

Koshi set up a replacement at http://nquotes.springlobby.info/ once but it's not working either.

Since nobody stepped up to figure out the db migration from the old, insecure bash I did not migrate this to the new box.

As for the answer's site, I've simply presumed it dead. If somebody still wants to host it I can arrange for a db dump and pointing dns wherever.

answers.springlobby.info got linked to in forum and wiki in some places, so those links are all dead now.
imo put it back up for some time with disabled posting so that maybe some stuff can be copied to wiki. And then let's never do the terrible idea of having a second parellel forum ever again.

I would also like to express that I´d be sad to see the accumulated knowledge (in the format) of the Q&A site lost.

Also, I think it is a shame it wasn't used more. When I was working on things I hadn't done before, I used it a lot. Of course It is easy to contact a knowledgeable spring elder in some other way :-) , so it seems redundant.

But I think it was a very good idea in general, which hasn't really took off due to the relative small size of the community. Paradoxical if you ask me, because in theory facilitating this information for new game devs may help the community grow.

+1. I was also using this a lot, and it had answers to quite a few problems.

Spring.Answers was good. Is good. Re-host it.

Auto-generate Tutorial-Wiki-pages from good answers.

I think shutting it down while it still was picking up speed was too early.

I would love to see spring answers back. I barely even got to know it before it disappeared.

For fun I looked on wayback machine and there was a lot of useful answers I would have loved to know earlier. It was a very good idea imo, much better then asking here or in the lobby where any answers are basically lost forever.

One of those funny slides at valves steamdevday showed how long they continued tf2 and some other games, before they even reached break even. Basically it takes time for people to switch habbits. And it takes even more time before something gets this popular.

Also was spring answers ever crawled by a bot?
Never found it via google.

you got to turn right, after you entered the hallway, go down the stairs (the ones with the crates and the not working light), enter the broom closet with the sign "Danger. Here be Tigers!" and there it is, well hidden in a Petunia pots dirt.

PS: Bring a shovell.
