I'm moving my game away from TA ip as well. I changed it from "TA: Factions" to "Metal Factions" so that one is already taken.

but it could use something related to robots, metal, energy, planets/galaxy, with less emphasis on factions:

Metal Might / MM
Metal Annihilation / MA
Metal Commanders / MC

maybe with a subtitle like "Robot Wars", or "Galactic conflict"

Beyond All Reason

edit: I've even got a lame fiction to support it... the conflict has continued so long that no-one really remembers why they are fighting, and yet they continue to fight, continuing to needlessly exhaust the resources of the entire galaxy "beyond all reason"...

+1 that's probably the best serious acronym for BAR, and definitely fits with the 'lore' surrounding *A games

That's a nice idea. I like names with double entendres. Or whatever that is.

not bad, Beyond All Reason is very game-namey yet not utterly cliched, and it's not wallowing in the obvious or the franchise (doesn't include the words robot, metal, or annihilation). also the game really is beyond all reason, so it's kind of perfect.

Why not plain Beyond Reason? Beyond All Reason sounds a bit comical.

The same reason its Total Annihilation instead of Annihilation, plus then it's still BAR.

I kind of like BAR (which might only show, that you can get used to any name if it sticks around long enough ). Though, I would prefer BA:R, with the colon.
Just to throw one in, too: Bionic Assault: Retaliation
(or Armies instead of Assault?)

But thinking of other good game names, Doom, Quake, Descent and stuff like this pops into my mind. So something simple and slightly descriptive could also be good (like Massive, but better ).

1) Since it will be an RTS where you can truly control 1000 of unit casue of awsome GUI, widget etc, I suggest the name should get something suggesting it.

Key words: multitask, enhance GUI, superior control, professional, etc...

2) If BAR want to get famous fast, it could target the old pool of TA player, meaning using some of the older word could help:

Key words: total, annihilation, contingency, commander

3) keep it short, best 2 word, limited to 3:

So my suggestion is :

Professional Annihilation

or

Proficient Commander
