Portable springlobby and old engine versions.

Post by smoth »

Ok so springlobby currently downloads the engine version to /userland/

if you are running portable, this creates issues because it then begins looking for the games an maps there.

So this is what I am doing to resolve it on myside.

1) move the engine copies to the /engines/ dir
2) create a symbolic link in each engine dir to my /games/ and /maps dirs
2a) run each spring.exe for each engine dir so it runs unitsync on each game dir
3) configure spring lobby to add those engine versions the portable dir and remove the /userland/ copies
4) restart springlobby.

I am not sure there is a better solution for windows people who are using portable springs.

I really would like springlobby to give me the option to set my rapid dir and engine dr but I am not sure that is possible. Portable installs are important and should be supported but at the moment this is how I know to handle it and am putting it on here for others.

same, that is what I meant as part of step1, I should perhaps add an intermediate step there?

did you have to do the symlink?

No, no symlinks.
