A few forums changes?

Would it be a big deal to allow larger avatar filesizes? And to keep strain off of the server why dont you allow for just outside linking to avatars only and no hosting instead? That way avatars arent so contrained and nor is the server.

And what about signatures, does no one want them here I suppose?

A long time ago (hell I was 17.. that was ages ago...) we asked about it. They said no. Then we asked again... they still said no and there unlikly to say yes. We MIGHT be able to perswade them to up avatar file sizes but only a might, and they dont liek Sig's.

Increased avatar size would be very nice though...

Forums with huge ugly image supporting sigs that allow users to take up 3 screens are really ugly. I think a tight little text only sig would be great. That way modders could advertize their latest stuff right under each post and artists could link to thier galleries and what not.

I petitioned SJ and Fnordia for months about this, lobbying for as little as a change from 80x80 4kb to 80x80 6kb, just so i could have my avatar of the bunny being eaten by the anime girl.

SJ's response was along the lines of a forum being focused on the text and that it wasnt a place for flashy imagery.
Fnordia followed SJ's example and gave a similair reason.

As for signatures, if you wanted them so much you could hand post them, adding them to the end of every post you make, but SJ said that they messed up and clutered the forum and I agree with him there, but only with regards to signatures. Hence why I set the max on avatars at Darkstars.co.uk so ridiculously high

Well I can see where you guys are coming from about the signatures, personally I would have wanted strict limitations on them anyways.


But I think avatar size should be at least 10-15kb, 4kb is really too small. Im not looking for flashy animations, but you can barely use any image at all with these size limits.
