I like your 'chili' growing project. I'm also on the hunt for a 300W fanless 12V PSU for LED strips, maybe you have something to recommend.

I have no idea where to get that high currents. What kind of setup do you have when you need 30 amps in 12 volts?

Well, only 24A, but I don't want to run the unit at max.

I'm powering a couple different projects with this one.

Thanks, but that unit has a cooling fan. I know it does not start until it gets hot, but I'm living in a fairly warm climate so the fan would run more or less continuously. This is for legit use only, if I needed 'chilis' they would grow very nicely outdoors if you water them regularly.

How about this?
Outdoor&rainproof usually means no fan.

Thanks, but I strongly suspect there is a fan inside that housing. The unit has vents, and that usually indicates forced cooling.
However, I found a 25A unit that may be acceptable:

Re: DIY 150-900W fully modular LED lighting driver
I bought this unit, and although it is indeed marked 300W, it also says 12V 20A which is nowhere near 300W. So, don't buy it unless you are okay with ~20A. The power consumption rating is also listed as 270W. So definitely a bit of false marketing there but looks like fairly high quality build.

Now as the price of the special emitters have come down, i decided to make a new lighting module utilizing the most optimal wavelengths. Once this project finishes the lighting driver will finally realize it's full 900W capacity.

A comment on the "cheap chinese emitters": I have had my LED modules in constant use, some for years, and not a single LED has failed or visibly dimmed. I have the same kind of LEDs on my baseball cap light, and they also still work perfectly.
