Weird problem with AntiVir...

Post by Mecha Sonic »

I had downloaded an upgrade from version 6 of AntiVir to version 7. I started the setup, it deinstalled version 6 and it asked me to restart my puter. Problem: my puter didn't restart, it just sat there after the icons and stuff disappeared. So I had to press the power button to reboot. When I got back to my desktop, it said that it could not deinstall version 6 and it told me to deinstall it manually. But, all my AntiVir files and stuff were gone. I can't uninstall it cuz it's not there, but Windows thinks it's still there for some reason cuz my Security Center says AntiVir is on and up to date. If I install the Version 7 update, it will restart, but does the same thing where it said it couldn't remove version 6. What do I do?

Its probably still in the Registry. I have no idea how to get it out though.

No idea how to get into my registry... I guess I could just leave it there as long as it doesn't cause any problems in the future. I have Earthlink Protection Control Center so I guess there's no need to have AntiVir anyway...

1. Go to your start menu
2. Go to "run"
3. Type in "regedit"
4. Hit enter
5. Don't mess with stuff it doesn't tell you to, and make sure your changing it in the right places.
