always post the whole infolog. do it as an attachment or through pastebin, not by inserting text directly into your post.

Sorry, I tried but didn't find out how to attach something. Anyway, if it's KAIK, I at least know why it happened ...

Thanks! :)

I keep geting this crash. It happens when I use any keybinding for example when I just type "z" it crashes.

http://pastebin.com/gxuSK95H

Edit: it is not only using keybindings.. it crashs also when I use the UI, for exemple when I click over the mex button.

The crash happens when I select the mex/building so the view change to show me where are the metal spots (it crashes before showing it).

So I suppose is a graphic card problem, I am using GTX 660 Ti, running Mac OSX. Any suggestions? :|

in 93 release notes: "much faster Sim (~20% and ~50% with working OMP)"
But yesterday I saw lot's of lagged out people. Looks like 94.1 release is not faster than 91 release.

I have i7 3770k and spring works good for me (91 and 94.1), but it's sad to kick people from game because of lag issues.

I think it is slightly faster. You can always reduce the game speed (Alt +/-) if the laggers are important to the overall game.

Someone told me BA has a new command /take2 playername that allows you to control the units of a lagged player.

You can also force-spectate a lagged player with a spec-vote (!spec playername), so there's no longer any need to kick.

I ran an upgrade with Ubuntu:s PPA added. Now i have spring 94.1.

ZK uses spring 91.0 so it looks like i won't be gaming untill ZK servers update... Am i missing something, or why was not previous versions kept installable in PPA?

Because there is a package named spring, but no package named spring-94.1. You can still likely force-version though.

TLDR: spring should be a metapackage.

Use static build.

Too bad static builds were introduced after 91.0 for Linux...

Also, spring provides 0.88 (from ubuntu main repo) and 94.1 (from spring ppa). There is no 91.0 in the PPA anymore.

Code: Select all

apt-cache showpkg spring
Package: spring
Versions:
94.1~12.10~ppa1 (/var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_spring_ppa_ubuntu_dists_quantal_main_binary-amd64_Packages) (/var/lib/dpkg/status)

88.0+dfsg1-1.1ubuntu1 (/var/lib/apt/lists/fi.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_quantal_universe_binary-amd64_Packages)
 Description Language:
                 File: /var/lib/apt/lists/fi.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_quantal_universe_binary-amd64_Packages

 Description Language: en
                 File: /var/lib/apt/lists/fi.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_quantal_universe_i18n_Translation-en
                  MD5: b19d83a711f89edba8c3a45789408e6f
Edit: I found koshi quickly mention that he will be doing this cleanup, and that old packages can be found in https://launchpad.net/~koshi/+archive/oldspring from now on. Too bad it does not contain up to version 91.

anarchid@wormbox:~/Games$ ls | grep spring
spring_88.0
spring_89.0
spring_91.0
spring-93.2-portable
spring_94
spring_94.1
spring-git
springlobby
spring-portable-89
spring-portable-89-all-but-gl.zip
spring-portable-89-with-libc.zip
spring-portable-92
spring-portable-93
I might have compiled some of those. I guess that never fails as the last line of defense. But spring-portable-89 doesn't really look like a non-static build.

Um... Engine version 94.1 OMP portable disables the default widgets for ct and s44... (healthbars, unitcircles, team platter etc.) and the issue is I can't get them back on... f11 gets tweak mode on instead of widget list, like it should.

Any help? I didn't see any changes to hotkeys in changelog and I checked my spring hotkeys settings and it says f11 is bound to widget list.

If you dont copy your old game widget settings, the selection has to be done again and there are used widget default settings (manual way is to change enabled = false => true in each widget that is not loaded by default in every new engine (+ new folder) version with no settings).

Tweak mode is CTRL + F11 and widgets manager F11. So from your description its "old ctrl problem" (my terminology :) ) that i was usualy solving by pressing rightAlt + rightShift (or rightCtrl + Enter, i dont remember) and after that CTRL was recoginized correctly => so you can press F11 and activate widgets.

If my silly way dont help, still CTRL+F11 should be enough for accessing widget manager.

I had the same problem on 93 I believe, it switched the hot keys so both f11 and ctrl+f11 started tweak mode. I just had to manually change the hot keys back in spring settings

It seems CEG glowy spikes are no longer being rendered

example :

Code: Select all

...
	[GLOWCENTER]
	{
		class=CExploSpikeProjectile;    (*)
		[properties]
		{
			dir=dir;
			width=30;
			length=20;
			alpha=0.6;
			alphadecay=0.1;
			color=0.9, 0.8, 0.6;
		}
		air=1;
		water=1;
		ground=1;
  		count=1;
	}
...
(*) was using an alias "explspike", but it doesn't work either way

- i'm using spring 94.1
- i get no errors on the infolog.txt when displaying the ceg
- i know the other components of the CEG are running (this is a component of a weapon flare, but has a little groundflash and it is displayed)

If you mean the fact that Ctrl key gets stuck in windows 7, that key can be made unstuck by pressing left ctrl at least 12 times quickly. It's a weird problem. I think it may have something to do with Autohotkey program.

Under which circumstances should I decide for APATH or not-APATH versions?

MT (APATH) is much faster. The other one is simply 94.1 + bugfixes. I recommend you get both versions.

If you play single player setup the lobby to start spring-mt to get the performance boost.

If you play online the correct version will be started automatically, so you must join an MT host to enjoy the added performance.
