New map Chocolate Rain

Post by wolas »

Map with lemon juice and chocolate in middle of pot yummy!.

http://springfiles.com/spring/spring-ma ... olate-rain

I had idea to create such "type" map for a while and after several fail heightmaps this one finally seems playable.

Notice bug with water outside map dunno why.

Chocolate BOOM!

He is sad because of all that chocolate he cant lick it up from his back, poor guy.

And few questions, why it looks so "colorless"in game? I m first time using that Lua mapconfig or how it is called and there is many fog and so on settings maybe its these fault?, look at texture map it is colorful and much more lively. By default Chocorain is disabled( I personally dislike maps with fog in spring, they eat resources and my system is not new...), but map still looks colorless.

Its unlikely that I will change it much, so some testing would be nice, would be cool to make it more colorful and maybe will add music as option with Chocolate rain song :)

On very high spring settings with normal view I get huge lag here, with L view it goes back to normal I hope this thing is for me alone.

"Disabled" fog with
fogStart = 1000,
fogEnd = 10000,
it works...

Those fog settings are wack. Use:
fogStart = 0.7,
fogEnd = 1.0,

Also, to fix water rendering outside of the map (spring has done this since the beginning of time) set:

voidWater = true,

The color shown outside the map will correspond with waterplanecolor, so whatever color you want outside of the map, set waterplanecolor to that value.

OHSHIT

I didn't realize that there was water inside the map, in that case, don't use voidwater. Sorry about that.

Also, Y U NO SSMF?

Actually the way it works (water outside map) is that is there is a waterplanecolor smd param, then there is water all around, if it is missing, there isnt.

aren't you trying to deprecate smd?
so the equivalent mapinfo.lua option is

Code: Select all

local mapinfo = {
   ...
   water = {
      ...
      planeColor = {0.0, 0.0, 0.0},
      ...
   },
   ...
}

No. REMOVE the param. If it is given, water everywhere.

Ohhh damn, you're right. That explains why I have it commented out in all my maps. Totally forgot about that.

Sadly I was lazy to deal with SMF and somehow I have problems with shadows, so no SMF just released
