I loved black holes and super nova but I still don't "get" this new cd or the way they went with their music.

Re: what happened to muse?
That new song seems a bit whiny.
Re: what happened to muse?
I don't mind the theme, I mind the execution. I feel like they haven't developed much as artists and aren't putting in much effort - there are a lot of similarities between their new and old work, but the composition and lyrics of the new albums are less complex while the production quality is considerably higher. Of course, you can say this about many bands.

Re: what happened to muse?
tbh Resistance was one of the worst songs on the album anyway. I can nail down the cause to exactly one thing: Twilight. It corrupts and destroys everything that it touches.
The solution? Just listen to their older stuff. Origin of Symmetry was great, I find it hard to fault it.

Re: what happened to muse?
I saw Muse a few times before they "broke" popularly (pre-Showbiz).
I know it sounds like ultimate scenester wanker thing to say, but imo 90% of musical artists become diluted as they reach broader appeal. I think it is simply the nature of commercial music production. I have to agree with lancer: listen to the first 2 albums, ignore the other tosh they produced, be a little sad that the live show will never be anywhere near what it was (Leeds festival 2001 <3)
I could reel of a huge list of bands that got progessively more and more pedestrian as they sold more and more records, but it would just be sad :<
some..vintage..Muse
I don't think they will ever write a better track than Bliss tbfh

The lead singer always sounded like a whiny girl. Instrument use degraded though.Panda wrote: That new song seems a bit whiny.
Re: what happened to muse?
Their new music doesn't have as much energy in it as it used to.
Re: what happened to muse?
it was in twilight? UGH.
Honestly I think the music sounds like muse.. just the singing is so damn LAZY in that new song. I have no fucking clue why, it is just so damn lazy when it comes to the vocals like he is not trying or some shit. The music was fine but the lyrics and singing... it was like they didn't try at all.
Bliss is probably a personal fave but I really liked hysteria
*edit* yeah now that I listen to it again without having rage. it is the stupid fucking chorus
the way they sing it might as well add some dooby dooos to it.

if you eat the same sandwich no matter how good for a month, you hate it. I love muse but I like to add some new stuff to the list from time to time.HeavyLancer wrote:The solution? Just listen to their older stuff. Origin of Symmetry was great, I find it hard to fault it.

fuck that is stupid crap!It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it should have been right
It could be wrong, could be wrong, to let our hearts ignite
It could be wrong, could be wrong, are we digging a hole?
It could be wrong, could be wrong, this is out of control
It could be wrong, could be wrong, it can never last
It could be wrong, could be wrong, must erase it fast
It could be wrong, could be wrong, but it should have been right
It could be wrong could be....

Re: what happened to muse?
Yea, the seeming lack of sincerity and laziness in the lyrics and vocals is what is making them sound bad.
*Rages over Muse getting lazy with their lyrics and vocals.*

Muse - Hysteria (An awesome Muse song) - Muse has a great haunting sound to their older music.

they're both pretty cool songs, I don't really see what your problem is
resistance is probably a bit better in my opinion

They watched the intro of a video I 've made a long time ago and copied it for their stage: The Resistance.
