Lock this sub forum

Post by AF »

For reference, Argh wants this closed up. (On orders of Argh himself).

Argh has no intention of ever revisiting P.U.R.E, and is quite pleased with his ventures elsewhere

because he is chained in AFs basement?

Now, for real, beeing in contact with ARGH through the spirits that move my desk, i would like to inform you, that he wishes to switch license, making PURE completely GPL so that this project may never find peace, getting frankensteined by the generations to come.

Since I can't post I don't really see the point in that, and it's a little late to expect me to make a sock-puppet or whatever and revive something so obviously dead. Kindly tell whoever currently runs the place to archive it, as there's zero chance it'll ever see an update again. I don't care if anybody reads that stuff of course.

Out of pure curiosity I once PM'd him asking approximately how many had bought P.U.R.E. That was about two years ago and he didn't reply yet.

I think it's safe to say he's not coming back ever after his treatment here plus what is probably a huge disappointment in having invested his time in a commercial game that nobody bought(my guess). So removing stuff about his work makes perfect sense for all the reasons AF stated, even if it wasn't coming from the horses mouth and AF was just a big liar(which I don't think he is).

Just goes to show how unevenly distributed success is in indie games. On one side you have Minecraft that is a shitty alpha that earns millions, and all those lame games on king.com, on the other side something polished like P.U.R.E that earns nothing even though ten years ago it would've been a viable AAA-title. Ten years is a lot of time in the game industry though.

It's too bad for Spring in general, riding on the coattails of a successful title would've given Spring a lot of well-deserved attention.

Argh is aware of these things and has said he has intentions on P.U.R.E, however:
  • Argh has no intention of further developing P.U.R.E and will not be releasing updates/fixes/patches. I cannot stress the finality of that statement. No ifs no buts, Argh has made that very clear. Any further progress will be by other people should any further progress ever happen, there is no suggestion that anybody has been lined up to fill that gap, or that any search for someone is being undertaken.
  • Argh had and still does have contractual obligations. A lot of the basic things that we take for granted, that he would like to have said or done, are simply not possible or have limitations. Remember to get P.U.R.E on stardock he had to sign things.

...by signing, the benefittest, from now on called `the slave`, forfitts his soul to serve, should big sucess not save him, forever working as mason till death through hard work does us part.

Signing here. (Blinking three times, while looking cross counts as signing)

That is the rough side commercial development pic. It is why I keep my game projects free. I think money soils everything.
