Is it possible to watch replays together?

I think it would be fun and instructive to watch replays together with someone else, so that we can discuss the game and point out each other's strengths / weaknesses. Is this possible in some way (other than inviting the other person over to my house )?

You can host replays using the lobby, so that any number of people may watch

only tasclient supports replay hosting and iirc spring desyncs when hosting replay (and i don't think anyone will fix this bug), so the simple answer is : No, you can't watch a replay with your friends unless they can see your screen

Well, too bad that it isn't possible using the Springlobby. I think I can feel a feature request coming...

The feature request is already there: http://projects.springlobby.info/issues/39. It's only four years old, so I'm positive it will be done soon...

iirc there was a bug where hosting replays would not work properly.
once ingame the replay watching players were specs but could not ready up.
you could use /forcestart but it would not play for all players or something like that.
maybe thats why it got removed and then kind of forgotten.

its kind of a nice feature though...if somebody wants to test if it works in current engine pm me in lobby.

maybe thats why it got removed and then kind of forgotten.

never got removed, was just bugged and SL never implemented the feature, and since SL is the main lobby now neither the devs nor the players can test this feature and see it doesn't work, that's why it's still bugged

how could i test this on linux?
could i manually prepare script.txt (one for host and one for client),
... looks like that is the way to go, seeing as there is a DemoFile tag in the start script docu, used for demo replaying.
