Check this link out: Microsoft takes down Chinese blogger, and think about whether or not you want to continue using Microsoft products. Especially after Spring becomes multiplatform.

I was wondering about that. M$ have had a problem with large scale piracy in China, they would need the Chinese governments help to turn that around and would perhaps be owing the them a few favours in return. What price is free speech when corporate monopolists and communist dictatorships are in bed together?

It's not just Microsoft. Basically, every consumer product in existence is cracked, copied, ripped off, stolen, modified, pirated, etc in China. It's the world capital for any and all of the above. If you want something you can't buy, go to China to get it.

You will probably find stuff you didn't knew about. And some of the values ... are absolutely insane.

Also, in Happypenguin i started a thread to act as a log of stuff that was opressing Linux (one of the competitors to Windows). Not surprisingly, almost every thing had Microsoft behind it.

It has became infamous a statement of Bill Gates where he states that it didn't mattered that the chinese were piracying MS software because they would get dependant on it and that, after, they would want to make them pay (after the dependancy was set in).

Bill Gates is the wealthiest men in existance. Selling what? Software! Software ain't even the crucial part of a computer (the hardware is) and it can only be run on a luxury product (computers) which not all people have. So rich out of such a thing? And all that richness coming from our wallet...

I thought the saudi royals had more wealth than Bill gates personal fortune?

Anyways, the only company I know of that ahs deliberatly sabotaged its products to destroy other products is MS and MS Office under OS/2
