...Buy this game. This is the very best game of any kind which involves racing of any kind, cars of any kind, um... well it's just the very best racing game I've ever played. Actually gives you an even better sense of speed than EP1 Racer.
There's nothing like cruising down a highway at 300 KPH (that's about 160 MPH in backwards America with your weird measurements and your wee, beady eyes!!!) being chased by 15 cop cars, dodging in and out of traffic, dodging a spike strip by heading off-road into a golf course, and then being chased through the city by a helicopter which is radioing your every move to the cops so they can set up roadblocks and catch up to you again. Then smashing through said roadblocks with a cop car spinning wildly through the air as a result of your nitrous-powered 370 KPH ram. Oh how I love this game. It's a trip back to the wonderful days of NFS3: Hot Pursuit, only, incredibly, better.
The entire realistically sized and designed city, with back alleys, highways, construction sites, beach boardwalks, shopping centers (which you can drive through)........ This game is perfect. My only complaint is with the licensed music, which is mostly crap-rap and consists of only 25 or so tracks.
This is the culmination of the epic Need For Speed series, clearly showing influences from all of the best games in the series, plus a massive, free-roaming city which I'd say is at least 10 times the size of the one in Midnight Club.
This game has so much polish, I rubbed its case against a Starcraft CD, and now suddenly starcraft has like 300 extra units and isn't queer. It's that good.
There are no crashes. No odd behavior of any kind. Everything is as it should be. The entire game runs smooth as silk despite having the most beatufiul graphics I've seen possibly in ANY game, even counting those from games such as Gran Turismo 4, Midnight Club 2, Forza Motorsport, and Project Gotham 3 for x360.
I haven't even completed the game yet (I'm up to blacklist #6 right now) so I can't say for sure, but it appears the game even has something of a story! In a RACING game! A story! What the hell is that! And with good acting!
I watched this game's intro the first time, thinking, wow, it'd be cool if any of this was actually possible ingame - and it turns out, it is. The intro actually isn't fluff, but could easily be ingame footage. The game actually looks like FMV at every step of the way!
The entire environment is destructible! And there's a realistic damage model! (you and other racers are invincible, basically, but that's the only exception) For instance, for the longest time I thought a certain concrete sign in front of a building was a permanent structure, unbreakable. Well, i happened to smash into it at 350 KPH yesterday, and WHAM, it crashed over! Every object in the game appears to have a realistic, or at least relative, "object strength". Sort of like how in Spring, if you give a unit enough crushstrength, it'll walk right through wreckage, features, trees, anything. As your car gets more speed, it is capable of smashing more and more objects.
I could go on like this for hours, NFSMW just is so fantastic. This game is now among the ones I would call genre-defining, ones like Descent 2, Freespace 2, Total Annihilation, and so on. I am confident that this is the very best racing game ever made.

hehe, my brother has been playing this game (PS2 I think) and he loves it too. I looked through the car list for the game as well, and I like the selection. Okay, most of it I don't care about one way or another but it has the Lotus Elise, so that rocks. IIRC it also has the Mitsubishi 3000GT, which also rocks.
