Now would be nice if Bulletstorm wasn't skipping the German release. Looks like Epic just doesn't care about this country anymore.

Yes, because WWII was totally caused by the video games that didn't exist yet.
Re: Duty Calls - The new first person shooter
without ww2 you would still only have monsters to shot at in games!
video was superlol.

Germany allready had a worst generation ever, guess who it was.
It sure isnt todays youths or the next generation because we have a constant decline in violent crimes over the last decades.
2 or 3 psychos who shoot around in schools don't really change that.
And games sure dont tell you how to kill.

It's not just vidjagames... I hear they had to invent all these awesome board games like Carcassone and Settlers of Cataan because they weren't allowed to play RISKMachete234 wrote:Germany allready had a worst generation ever, guess who it was.

Re: Duty Calls - The new first person shooter
not sure where you got that, but of course you can play/buy Risk in germany.
Re: Duty Calls - The new first person shooter
Some guy I knew in HS... and I'd remembered it wrong... it's early editions of "Axis and Allies" because it depicted some of the symbols of the Nazi army.knorke wrote:not sure where you got that, but of course you can play/buy Risk in germany.
Re: Duty Calls - The new first person shooter
The symbol of the army is not forbidden either.
In fact in the german versions of games, it is sometimes used to replace swastikas, ie in call of duty and iirc in medal of honour too.
Only the swastika must not be used in games or movies unless it is a documention.

Risk is well known here.SinbadEV wrote: It's not just vidjagames... I hear they had to invent all these awesome board games like Carcassone and Settlers of Cataan because they weren't allowed to play RISK
But I read in wiki they wanted to forbid the game in 1982 but failed.
You must imagine this censorship board as bunch of priests, teachers lesbians, rabbis and whatever there might be.
And they check if a game is good for children.
I think people like that are a burden for society in general and should not be rewarded by having the power to censor things and get money for that. (priests are payed by tax money in germany (a lot) )
They cost a lot of money and yet they dont do anything constructive.
Its not forbidden in indiana jones movies or any other movie.knorke wrote: Only the swastika must not be used in games or movies unless it is a documention.
They just dont like games.
Re: Duty Calls - The new first person shooter
Yea, movies get away with it easier. Still scenes with swastikas are often cut out...not sure if the cinemas/tv channels/dvd publishers have to or just do it on their own.
Yes and imo thats good? Some games are not suitable for children. And afaik it is allowed to buy/sell any games no matter the amount of gore and violence to an over 18 years. It is just not allowed to advertise some games that are rated as too brutal. Which doesnt matter much because the gamers know about the games anyway from internet etc.And they check if a game is good for children.

If so they do it on their own I think.knorke wrote:Yea, movies get away with it easier. Still scenes with swastikas are often cut out...not sure if the cinemas/tv channels/dvd publishers have to or just do it on their own.
Like in inglorious basterds this film was full of swastikas, that is because art is free and video games are not considered art.
(At least wannabe intellectuals on the censorship board think so)
Right but were not hte vatican we shouldnt have a black list of poisonous books.knorke wrote:Yes and imo thats good? Some games are not suitable for children. We just should put an 18+ sticker on such a game like any other country.
If they sell such a game to minors they are in big trouble allready.
And I dont want to be forced to play low violence versions.
Steam does that and I am forced to use the low violence version for the full price of course.
How much fun do you think left4dead is in the low gore version?
Re: Duty Calls - The new first person shooter
It's still fun but achievements like "decapitate 100 zombies" just don't work when their heads don't come off...
The most defining moment about the whole movie/game discrimination is how the scene in The Last Crusade where Hitler signs Indy's book has the swastikas blacked out in the videogame but visible in the movie.

Re: Duty Calls - The new first person shooter
But that game was cool. (Fistfights sucked)
I dont think you can buy it from steam today in germany because steam has the uncensored version.
Or the original version of c&c was forbidden.
The cries of the soldiers had to be removed and the blood hat to be colored black because its motor oil and they are robots.
Thats how bizarre it gets.
