Where did you get the inspiration, motive and drive to do this? Because I want some.

So, beherith, I believe you said something about increasing the pixel quality of the texture. I think that would work perfectly with buildings. So, basically you just use the same texture but double in size for all the buildings, but the normal size for all the units, but without the bottom half. Would fix any odd scaling issues. Up to you.

I played the game back in the day when it first came out. My love for the game and my love for modeling is the mixture required.

Heres some more. Some of the water variants of these are done as well, but not worth rendering as its basically the same thing.

The renders look great, loving them more and more :D

Spring's cpu requirements do not have much to do with unit poly count. Ive found my GPU to be the limit since I've been using good cpu.

Makes much more sense with the texture applied doesn't it. I was getting worried there for a little bit. D:

Oh, does the ship lab have an indication of which way it's facing?

Nope. I assumed that either the "building facing set to x" message or the nanoloathing unit itself would do that. I could always add something else though.

I love the new renders and hope the ingame rendering won't make those look like shit.

It shouldn't as I'm paying attention to UVW scaling this time. You never know. D: That and we wont be using jpg.

It'll be fine, normally I am harsh on models when people do raytraces. It will be different and those of you running on minimal settings will have flat-ish models. but that has always and will always be the case for minimal settings.

For people like me, they will look great.
