Too loud explosion sounds (Dgun, Com explosion, Nukes)
Iirc this is about third time I'm complaining about this. But no still no fix... It's really pain in the ass if you have sound system at home. Dgun, com explosion sounds etc breaks your ears and wakes up your neighbours. And this cant be fixed by adjusting the sliders because when you do this, every other sounds gets diminished same time...

It ruins Springs sound effects for me and I normally play with the volume turned to near off for this reason.
Edit: check out the difference in volume when a com dies alone or alongside an AK:

Same here.
First time I've run TA, and almost ruined my headphones (really expensives), and my ears (priceless).
Boys this is really dangerous, it's not matter of joke. You should fix it soon, and in the while put some advise in the game.

It's also always a nice surprise when the com explosion is played although you deactivated the sound by F6. I'm not sure though for which sounds that happens but some are played even when the sound is turned off...

Definitely back up your old one first but try replacing OpenAL32.dll in /spring/ with this one:

ye it's bad, I've had to manually plug in a compressor in the patch bay for it
why isn't it possible to copy the sound files from the mod into sounds/ in spring ? why doesn't the game load with it ? it's not a cheat

sound is strange + stupidly suddendly loud in many mods.
when some sounds are played at the same time, they seem to add up in volume a lot.
also when a unit makes reasonable sound at playing zoom and then you zoom in, it does not only get louder but VERY FUCKING MUCH LOUDER...

yeah the additive shit with sound is fucking annoying, my missile sound is hell on the ears when >20 of them are firing. no idea how to fix, probably is a setting we don't know about.

we had a problem that.. well the description was exactly like this one, and it was solved by switching from Creative OpenAL implementation to the one from OpenAL Soft (~ OpenAL32.dll). i though it is the one in the installer since some versions already. It is also possible that it never really solved this, as this is hard to test/subjective, OS and sound card dependent, ...
