I'm not a fan of putting lipstick on people before interviewing them for TV

It looks like you only control a very small number of units.

Honnestly?
It looks retarded.
No competitive play?
You can't loose?
You 'lvl-up' and 'skill-trees'.
I don't think there's anything out there that can match the awesomeness of Spring rly....

Given your communities ranting n flaming over mmorts I in the past I am not suprised you should act this way again. Enjoy your tiny maps and limited instance gaming folks - you can join the starcraft 2 bunch soon who are also playing a jazzed up 90's game zzzzzzzz. If you cant cut it in mmorts just admit it :) We wont mock.

Soz - pre coffee post after seeing a google alert leading here. I tend to feed off the arrogant replies and leap in. Amazing how folks can deride something so quickly isnt it..

Only 2 posts dealt with game, since everyone else was clearly hung up by the manner of presentation, not the content. The content seems like it may work, but I didn't hear anything really new - except maybe the farmville style home base.

To me the whole game felt like World in Conflict with a farmville backend. And no PvP.

I still retain that the manner of presentation provided is far from unfortunate, its downright disastrous.

Vimes, if you have this on google alerts, maybe you can fill us in with more info?

Edit: Also, the game footage provided (though that's probably subject to change) didn't look better than world in conflict either, and that's a 3 year old game.

Guess what? **** MMOs of any kind.do not care about grind and putting different skins on my units.
I prefer quality strategy games instead.

At least from the trailer it looks like its just an MMO version of already explored venues of the RTS genre.

Edit:when has this community discussed MMORTS in the past and which one was it?

Compared with the complexity of strategy to cope with long term goals and aims, springs little maps and minor foray into resource production (seems more like magic to me than supplies) makes spring look more like instanced tactical play in a very small field of operations. Compare that to the strategy behind beyond Protocol or even Eve on a corp level and I have to come to the conclusion you only play what you know and can win... hardly strategy.

zerg rush anyone? :P

Congrats Vimes, on failing to address any point brought up in the previous posts, and continuing to just deride spring instead of telling us how their solution is better or different.

Also instanced tactical play? Seriously? The guy in the video itself tells us that that is what end of nations is, with some leveling and farmville and social glue.
