How is 20 bucks a bribe? Large companies do it all the time, but when someone here tries the same marketing strategy as has been proven successfully in commercial areas, it's a bribe?

yes it is a bribe. It also can legally constitute gambling which is why I had to get parental consent when I allowed minors to play in the MageKnight tournaments.

We've been kicking around the idea of a cash prize tournament for S44 for quite a while. I've been holding off for a more stable version/complete release/a good logistical way to manage the prize distribution.

I don't think its a bribe to get people to play the game, but it probably serves as an incentive for people who might not otherwise try it. Cash prizes for free games are pretty rare in the online world, so you could probably get some decent press about it.

I'd think people would appreciate(at least shut up and say nothing) me donating of my money to help develop a competitive community which is nearly dead but....

I didn't hear about it I probably read BA and then moved on because I assumed it was another thread about how to porc better on speedmetal/dsd.

just the time it took me to make the sky boxes I did for spring is worth well over ten times that in monetary value. Don't be so tacky, tons of people have put GREAT amounts of time into spring actually doing stuff.

Nemo, what is a bribe if not a monetary incentive to get something in return. IMO you guys have give AMPLE as it is, ffs people seem to not appreciate FREE anymore. Funny enough there have been studies that show human beings inately judge something as of lesser desriability because it has a lesser monetary value..... in otherwords, that shitty game that some asshat pays 60$ for is going to be given more consideration over the wonderful FREE game you guys made.
