New spring release: it a 0.80.5

Post by Auswaschbar »

Because we fixed a nice amount of bugs in the current version, and also did some major performance improvements, a new release had to be made. After discussing the possibilities of a synced 0.80.4.3 release, or if we should make a 0.81 instead, we finally decided to go for an Spring 0.80.5. As usual, thanks to all the contributors, testers, helpers etc.

Some release highlights:
Bugfixes:
  • lots of bugs in the AI interface fixed
  • fix some network-related problems and improve behaviour under worse conditions
  • large performance increase for units on patrol
  • fix some performance problems with the new heatmap pathfinder
  • fixed a crash which could occur after an AirBase was destroyed
Gui:
  • joystick support
  • some bugs resolved which could lead to crashes when using ogg samples or music
  • properly handle dds textures
  • fix some mouse-jumping in windows
Sim:
  • lua unit scripts major rework
  • some sources of desync fixed
Misc:
  • fix some compiling problems related to boost 1.40
  • some fixes for OS X
For an extensive list of all changes, please consult the git log.

Installer and sources can be downloaded from our sourceforge page (don't forget to vote for us). Portable archive will follow shortly.

Server will be bumped when packages for ubuntu have been made.

ok, so it is for online play now. I guess a few hours early isn't a big deal

thx for the updates devs

one issue I had: I told the installer to install tasclient but instead it uninstalled tasclient and left me with nothing.

Interesting, Spring no longer hangs on alt-tab, now it outright crashes. :|

(I could, of course, alt-tab fine pre 0.80)

I noticed same strange effect: the commander and the KBots animations aren't fluid. The commander legs movements are jerky.
